The Vintage Hotel & Spa is an upscale boutique property with an elegant, old-school vibe mixed with fresh, contemporary styling. It's pleasantly removed from the Lisbon city center bustle, while being within walking distance of most of its attractions (though the uphill walk back won't suit everyone). The rooms are spacious and simple, with a modern look and some featuring excellent cityscape views. They include air-conditioning, free Wi-Fi, and flat-screen TVs. Spa facilities are chic, and while breakfast isn't a highlight, it is included in room rates and in-house dining is otherwise generally impressive. For a better breakfast and more lavish interiors, check out Hotel Avenida Palace -- but expect to pay more.

Set in quiet spot within walking distance of most city center attractions
The hotel is set at a quiet junction of cobblestone roads in the center of Lisbon, in the Sao Mamede neighborhood. While tucked a little away from most of the hustle and bustle, Lisbon's tree-lined main artery of Avenida da Liberdade is just a five-minute walk away, as are the two metro stations -- Rato and Avenida -- within an easy five-minute walk. Numerous restaurants, shops, and bars are also within easy walking distance. The city's historic center attractions such as the Palacio Foz and the Lavra Tram -- the oldest elevator in Lisbon -- are within 15 minutes on foot (though it is an uphill walk back to the hotel). The hip Bairro Alta is also about 15 minutes away on foot, while shop-heavy Chiado is a 20-minute walk. Expect a 15-minute drive to the Jeronimos Monastery and Belem Tower. Lisbon's Portela Airport is about a 20-minute drive away.
