Bottom Line

Opened in 2011, Ribeira Tejo Boutique Guesthouse is
one of five properties managed by Shiadu Boutique Guesthouses. The upper-middle-range hotel has 15
cozy rooms with homey furnishings, some of which have pleasant views of the river. It’s located within a 10-minute walk to the Tagus River, and there
are plenty of bars and restaurants nearby. A homemade
breakfast of items such as eggs, fruit, and cakes is included. Travelers could also consider The House, a modern boutique B&B in a residential area outside the city center.

Scene

B&B with living room and river views

The Ribeira Tejo Boutique Guesthouse is in a
five-story stone building on a paved street. The entrance feels
dated with wood-paneled walls and olive-green elevator doors. But the reception
area is in a bright room with a big skylight and a more modern feel. One wall
is covered with colorful sticky notes holding messages left by previous guests.
Breakfast is served in another room with a skylight and decorative square
tables with a mishmash of charming wooden chairs. A blue-and-white buffet
counter adds a touch of country-chic appeal. And the living room area provides a spot
to relax or socialize with a couch, chairs, and windows with river
views.

Location

A five-minute walk to the water and metro station

There are plenty of restaurants and
nightlife options near the hotel, and it’s a 10-minute walk south of
Bairro Alto, a lively neighborhood known for its nightlife. The hotel is also a five-minute walk from the river and from the Cais do Sodre metro station, making for an
easy commute to most of the city. Saint George’s Castle is around a 20-minute
walk from the property, and the airport is around a 20-minute drive.

Rooms

Homey rooms with comfortable beds

Rooms at Ribeira Tejo
Boutique Guesthouse are cozy with wooden floors, white walls, and homey touches including decorative multicolored throw cushions. Modern art pieces hang on the walls. Past guests report that the beds are comfortable, and all rooms have flat-screen TVs with cable channels. Bottled water and a small bowl of fruit in each room are thoughtful touches. Bathrooms have walk-in showers or
shower/tub combos, hairdryers, and generous toiletry kits. Some rooms don’t have good
views, and guests recommend paying more for higher level rooms with river
views.

Features

Free buffet breakfast, free Wi-Fi, and living room with Internet corner

The hotel serves a free breakfast buffet including
items such as crepes, fresh fruit, cakes, cheeses, and cold cuts. Guests leaving on early morning flights can request their morning meal be packed to go. There is a
living room area with a variety of books for guests to read and a computer to
access the Internet. Wi-Fi is free throughout the property.
