The 164-room Hotel Olissippo Marques de Sa is a standard, upper-mid-range property on a residential tree-lined street. It's outside the city center but has close subway access. The location is a 10-minute drive to the airport and under the flight path, which causes in-room noise. Seven meeting rooms, a computer center (where guests must pay a fee), and secured parking appeal to business travelers. Also on-site is a modern Portuguese restaurant and bar. Contemporary rooms have flat-screen TVs, minibars, and safes, and suites have terraces -- albeit with uninspiring views. The sister property, the Hotel Olissippo Castelo, offers lovelier views from Alfama.
Scene
Upper-mid-range property with simple, modern designs
The Hotel Olissippo Marques de Sa is a moderately priced upper-mid-range property that’s in a quiet residential area, a fringe location that likely doesn’t suit the typical tourist. A beige awning hangs over the entrance, which makes it look more like an apartment building than a hotel. The property opened in 1996 and attracts mostly couples, but its business facilities also appeal to travelers in town on work. Designed in black marble, the hotel’s lobby has a modern vibe. Black and metallic upholstered furniture can be found in the small lounge area across from the front desk and narrow elevators. Corridors are simple and contemporary with striped carpeting and light wooden doors and baseboards.
Location
In a residential area outside Lisbon’s city center
The hotel’s location is on a residential street in an outlying area beside the Gulbenkian Museum and Gardens, with a few restaurants nearby. Shopping is closeby at the El Corte Ingles. In walking distance, toward the city center, is the Parque Eduardo VII and Marques de Pombal. The hotel is under the flight path of the Lisbon Portela Airport, which is a 10-minute drive away. Lisbon Zoo is a 15-minute subway trip. The Baixa/Chiado area -- with the Santa Justa Lift -- is reachable in 20 minutes via the Sao Sebastiao subway station which is a few blocks from the hotel. The Belem Tower and Jeronimos Monastery are about 35 minutes by bus. The Alfama district, with the Castle of S. Jorge, is 35 minutes by public transportation.
Rooms
Simple, modern rooms with pops of color, flat-screen TVs, minibars and terraces in suites
The style in the rooms is simple and modern with windows that overlook residential buildings and streets. Neutral and gray furnishings and light wooden furniture allow yellow and red damask pillows and brightly upholstered chairs to stand out. Instead of closets, but there are shiny, metal wardrobes. The hotel offers Standard Rooms that have king or twin beds and Suites, which are on the top floor. They also have separate living rooms and terraces. All rooms have flat-screen TVs, safes, writing desks, free Wi-Fi, air-conditioning, and minibars. Clean bathrooms have stone tiles, bidets, shower/tubs combos, hairdryers, scales, and standard toiletries.

A business corner, which guests may access for a fee, is also in the lounge, providing a PC computer and printer.
