Duque de Loule offers 89 modern and contemporary rooms at the edge of Lisbon’s
city center. The interiors are stylish, with a blue-and-white color scheme. Rooms are on the small side, but they include minibars, flat-screen TVs, and Nespresso coffeemakers. Facilities include a pricey breakfast, a small gym, a restaurant, a library bar, and a rooftop
terrace bar with wonderful views. For travelers who want to be closer to
attractions, it may be worth considering the Internacional Design Hotel, which has a
wine bar and bathrooms with jetted tubs, though rates can be higher.
Scene
High-end boutique hotel with a romantic vibe and stylish decor; attracts mostly couples
Opened in March 2015, H10 Duque de Loule offers modern
comfort in an intimate and exquisitely tasteful environment. The hotel's vibe
is visible from the outside -- a salmon-colored 18th-century building
with a number of arched white windows. Guests step into a stylish lobby that’s
a mix of parquet wooden floors and black-and-white tile. Blue-and-white tiles
on the walls make up elegant designs, and there's low intimate lighting from an
iron chandelier. The front desk is made of white wood and mirrors; it sits next
to the business center area, which has two high-backed leather
armchairs placed next to a small fireplace. Opposite the business center is the
library lounge, which flows into the restaurant. Both spaces are filled with brown
leather chairs, plush white chairs, iconic Portuguese blue-and-white tiles that depict historic
scenes, and a mix of antique and modern lighting. The restaurant has a lovely
display of china plates. The rooftop terrace bar is
similarly stylish, with a large blue couch with white-and-blue pillows, blue-and-white tiled floors, and a terrace filled with chairs and tables overlooking Lisbon. Though kids are welcome at the hotel, the high-design concept and lack of amenities to entertain young ones makes this boutique property a better fit for couples looking for a romantic atmosphere.
Location
At the edge of the city center, within walking distance of some attractions and public transportation
H10 Duque de Loule
is located on the edge of the city center, making some of Lisbon's attractions easy to reach on foot, while others are a bit far. For instance, Rossio Square is a 23-minute walk, while
Carmo Convent is a 27-minute walk. Sao Jorge Castle is 36 minutes away on foot, which might not be ideal for some travelers. Thankfully, there’s a bus stop
that’s a one-minute walk away and the Marques de Pombal metro station takes
four minutes to reach. Belem Tower and Jeronimos Monastery are 13-minute drives
away. The property is located in a corporate area, so there’s not much in the way of restaurants or shopping on surrounding streets. Lisbon
Portela Airport is a half-hour drive away.
Rooms
Small rooms with elegant decor, flat-screen TVs, minibars, and Nespresso coffeemakers
The rooms at the H10 Duque de Loule are small but still cozy. The decor in every room category is modern and
elegant, with white bedspreads and contemporary chairs, with just the right
touch of Portuguese influence; white-and-blue tiles grace sections of
the white wall panels. It’s the hardwood floors, black-and-white framed prints,
and comfy blue window seats that give these rooms an elegant vibe. Some
rooms have separate living rooms with couches or four-poster beds. There are even
rooms with panoramic views of the city and River Tagus, but those cost an
additional fee. All rooms are outfitted with flat-screen TVs, minibars, free
bottled water, and free Wi-Fi. Kettles are available upon request, though all
rooms have Nespresso coffeemakers. However, only two free coffee pods are
provided each day. Bathrooms are lovely and spacious, with white-and-blue wall
tiles, black-and-white floor tiles, and shower/tub combos. Toiletries, hairdryers, bathrobes, and slippers are provided.
Features
Restaurant, library lounge, rooftop bar, breakfast, meeting room, and a small gym
Though there's no pool or spa at the H10 Duque de
Loule, it does have a number of features for a property of its size. There’s
an on-site a la carte Portuguese and Spanish restaurant, Azul e Branco, plus a
library lounge, Equestre Bar, that serves a variety of drinks. The Limao Rooftop Bar Terrace has fantastic views of the city, but is often rented out for private events. A plentiful and
varied breakfast is offered in the mornings for a high fee, and there’s room
service during limited hours. There’s also a small gym with a few cardio and weight-training machines, plus free weights. Business travelers can make use of a the hotel's one fully equipped meeting room or the business center, which has two computers and
a printer. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the hotel, while on-site parking incurs a daily
fee.
