BessaHotel Liberdade

BessaHotel Liberdade is a sexy, upscale hotel that makes stylish use of glass, mirrors, artistic pieces, and intimate lighting throughout. The exterior is elegant -- a white and cream building with tiled designs and windows complemented by a lovely iron railing. Guests enter a chic lobby set with dark tiled floors, wood-slated ceilings, low lighting, sleek reflective walls, and brightly lit LED walls and ceiling edges. The front desks are three vintage-style trunks set low to the ground to allow visitors to relax in high-backed gray armchairs when checking in. The hotel’s interior terrace is one of the most visually appealing areas of the property, with turf grass, white cabanas, lounge chairs, and tables and chairs on a wood-plank patio sheltered under a glass awning. There’s also a vertical garden that grows on the side of the building. The dining areas are similarly stylish, with a black-and-red breakfast room bordered with artsy, lattice-cut wall panels, while the restaurant has a farm-to-table vibe with light wooden tables, green chairs, and greenery here and there. Most guests are tourists, though the property does offer a business center and a few meeting rooms. 

BessaHotel is located on a wide, tree-lined avenue on the popular Avenida de Liberdade in a fantastic, tourist-friendly place. Restaurants and upscale shops surround the hotel, while the closest metro stop is a three-minute walk away.  Bairro Alto, the popular nightlife area, takes 10 minutes to reach on foot, while Rossio Square is seven minutes away. Sao Jorge Castle is a 24-minute walk from the property. It takes 18 minutes by car to reach the Lisbon Portela Airport. 

Guest rooms at the BessaHotel Liberdad are spacious and stylish, designed in a palette of grays, blacks, and creams. Polished wooden floors, white linen beds, and tall cream headboards add sophistication, and LED lighting along the edge of the ceiling provide a soft glow. Large abstract black-and-white framed prints in some rooms give a graphic flourish. Amenities include safes, flat-screen TVs, small desks, kettles, air-conditioning, and integrated Bluetooth sound systems. Rooms have either mini-fridges with water or fully stocked minibars, and some upper-level rooms also have espresso-makers. Bathrooms are simple but still elegant, done in white tile with black countertops and square vessel sinks. They’re outfitted with walk-in glass showers, Keiji toiletries, hairdryers, and robes. Some bathrooms also have separate jetted tubs. 

BessaHotel Liberdad has a number of great public spaces and amenities that really stand out. The hotel’s best feature is its indoor heated pool with floor-to-ceiling windows and views of the terrace, filled with lounge chairs, a pool bar, and patio seating beneath canopies and cabanas. There is a small, but well-equipped gym with a handful of cardio equipment, free weights, and a weight machine. Guests can also take advantage of a wellness area with a sauna and Turkish baths. The Tabik Restaurant and Bar serves lunch and dinner, though guests note that meals and drinks are expensive. The breakfast buffet receives positive reviews, but it's not included in room rates. Room service is available 24/7. A business center with four desktop computers and four meeting rooms are provided for business travelers. Wi-Fi is free throughout the hotel, but on-site underground parking incurs a daily fee.
