Simple hotel in business district
Although the 3k Barcelona Hotel touts itself as a four-star it's closer to mid-range. The property has a business slant, and appeals to business travelers with its location. The simple lobby has pairs of tall, cushiony chairs configured into lines with a small glass coffee table between each pair. The breakfast room and bar are cavern-like without many windows but have a somewhat classic feel with maroon leather chairs and brass picture frames. There are colorful and interesting paintings -- portraits, landscapes, and cityscapes -- hanging throughout the lobby, hallways, and rooms. Overall the atmosphere is clean and inviting.

The 3k Barcelona Hotel is situated in Lisbon’s northern financial
district, surrounded by other high-rise hotels (there is a Holiday Inn next
door) and a four-minute walk from the Campo Pequeno metro station. There are
several restaurants and bars within walking distance as well as the Curry
Cabral Hospital (five minutes away). Entrecampos train station, with trains
running throughout Portugal and Europe, is a seven-minute walk and the Calouste
Gulbenkian Foundatin and garden are about an eight-minute walk away. El Corte
Ingles is a five-minute metro ride. Old Town Lisbon can be reached in less than
20 minutes by the 207 or 736 bus. The Lisbon international airport is
accessible within 25 minutes via public transportation or within 10 minutes by
car.

Clean, blue, and pleasant rooms -- some decorated with pop art
There are 125 rooms at the 3k Barcelona Hotel. Those on the
higher floors have spectacular views of the Lisbon skyline. Royal blue is the
prominent color in most rooms, which are clean and modern with angular, firm
beds and light wood nightstands and door frames. Some rooms have enormous abstract art paintings above the beds. Bathrooms are on the small side
and some seem a little dated with pink marble countertops clashing with gray
tiles on the wall and blue on the floor. They have shower/tub combos with a
partial glass door. Each room has a flat-screen cable TV, air-conditioning, minibar, and safe. The suites are considerably larger but oddly
configured in one large room. These feature leather chairs and a couch, a
coffee machine, and dining table. Wi-Fi is available in rooms for an extra fee.
