The Coho Oceanfront Lodge
1635 NW Harbor Ave

The three-pearl Coho Oceanfront Lodge is a low-key, 65-room resort overlooking the beach. Features include ocean-facing fire pits surrounded by Adirondack chairs, weekly wine tastings, movie rentals, cookies in the lobby, and in-room massages. There are also a breakfast cafe, hot tub, sauna, gym, and an indoor pool that’s for adults only at night. Most units offer oceanfront balconies, and some have kitchenettes, fireplaces, and/or bunk beds for kids. Although the property looks out over the beach, it's perched on a cliff and beach access is one block away. The Beachfront Manor Hotel is right on the sand, but it doesn’t have as many amenities.

Looking Glass Inn
861 SW 51st St

The 36-room Looking Glass Inn is a mid-range property overlooking Siletz Bay in Lincoln City’s historic Taft District. The hotel delivers VIP treatment to pooches, with doggy welcome baskets, treats, and a lawn with a fire hydrant. A picnic area offers a barbecue grill and crab cooking station, which is a nice perk since there’s no on-site restaurant, although the lobby does have a breakfast bar. One- and Two-Bedroom Suites and Studios have flat-screen TVs, and many have kitchens, fireplaces, ocean views. However, the walls are thin and the property is not on the beach, so ocean-facing rooms also get a view of the parking lot.

Pelican Shores Inn
2645 NW Inlet Ave

Pelican Shores Inn is a mid-range beachfront hotel in Lincoln City, Oregon, a lively tourist town known for its cute shops and restaurants, and annual kite festival. The 33 rooms range from Studios to family-size Two-Bedroom Suites, and most have large balconies facing the ocean -- some also have kitchens. Amenities include a free buffet breakfast, a sky-lit indoor pool, and free Wi-Fi. But the hotel has no fitness center or full restaurant, and guests can't bring their pets. Travelers with dogs should check out the similarly priced Coho Oceanfront Lodge, which has pet-friendly rooms.

Sandcastle Beachfront Motel
3417 SW Anchor Ave

The two-pearl Sandcastle Beachfront Motel offers direct beach access and 40 of the most inexpensive oceanfront rooms in Lincoln City. Rooms are dated and lack air-conditioning, but they’re clean and comfy and have flat-screen TVs. Some also have kitchens, fireplaces, oceanfront balconies, and whirlpool tubs. There's also a large indoor pool and a hot tub with ocean views. The Coho Oceanfront Lodge, which has stylish rooms and a breakfast cafe, is a bit nicer and is closer to the restaurants and shops in town, but it's also a bit more expensive.

Ashley Inn and Suites
3430 NE Highway 101

Clean and well-maintained, the 75-room Ashley Inn and Suites is a two-and-a-half pearl hotel within a 10-minute walk of the beach, with a saltwater indoor pool, a hot tub, a sauna, and an old-fashioned fitness center. Rooms are spacious and homey, with mini-fridges and microwaves, and some suites have whirlpool tubs and kitchenettes or kitchens. Breakfast -- although basic -- is free and there's a Starbucks next door. Beer and wine can be purchased in the gift shop. For guests on extended stay there’s a self-serve laundry room. Travelers craving rooms with beachfront views may prefer the Coho Oceanfront Lodge, which like the Ashley Inn, allows dogs.

Starfish Manor Oceanfront Hotel
2735 NW Inlet Ave

The intimate Starfish Manor Oceanfront Hotel is a romantic boutique property with 17 Suites with whirlpool tubs, fireplaces, and kitchenettes or kitchens, but no air-conditioning. Additional romantic touches woo couples: bathrobes and -- on request -- rose petals on beds, chocolate strawberries, and champagne. A laundry room is available and there are household appliances and DVD rentals at the front desk. However, while coffee and tea are offered in the lobby, there's no restaurant or breakfast on-site. Compare rates at the Beachfront Manor Hotel -- run by the same company.

Beachfront Manor Hotel
2855 NW Inlet Ave

The 30-unit Beachfront Manor Hotel is a serene, three-pearl hillside property on a sparsely occupied stretch of sand with unobstructed Pacific Ocean views. Rose petals and chocolates on the beds add a touch of romance to rooms and suites, many of which come with fireplaces, balconies with ocean views, microwaves, and mini-fridges. Some units also have hot tubs on the decks. The sister hotel -- where check-ins are facilitated -- offers laundry facilities, but neither property has a restaurant. The Coho Oceanfront Lodge has more facilities, including a pool and a breakfast lounge.

Shearwater Inn
120 Inlet Court

Shearwater Inn is a subtly elegant upper-middle-range hotel in central Lincoln City, an easy walk to the beach (although another hotel partially blocks some ocean views). There are a nice outdoor hot tub, a business center, a nightly wine hour, and dog welcome baskets; in addition, breakfast trays are delivered to rooms every morning. The 30 rooms are stylish and come with flat-screen TVs, fireplaces, and ocean views -- some also have small balconies and whirlpool tubs. One- and Two-Bedroom Suites offer kitchens and living rooms. Early risers should know that the lobby, with coffee and tea, is not 24-hour. Still, the many thoughtful extras here make this one of the best choices in the area, though the sometimes cheaper Looking Glass Inn is also worth considering.

Inn at Wecoma Lincoln City
2945 NW Highway 101

The Inn at Wecoma Lincoln City is a modest two-and-a-half pearl hotel with an indoor pool and hot tub. It caters to value-minded travelers looking for the basics who don't want to pay a premium for beachfront views. The 63 rooms are large, clean, and well-maintained -- all include work desks, mini-fridges, microwaves, and flat-screen TVs, and some have fireplaces and balconies, though travelers shouldn't expect much from the views. Family Suites with separate sleeping areas area available, and the Grand Suite has a full kitchen. A hot continental breakfast is included in the room rate, along with weekend shuttle service to the casino. Travelers who want to be on the beach should check rates at the three-pearl Beachfront Manor Hotel.
