The 120-room Oasi di Kufra is a lower-middle-range beachfront hotel with one glaring omission: no outdoor swimming pool. The gorgeous beachfront location with calm blue water and a sandy beach is an excellent substitute, and there is a small indoor pool in the wellness center. The no-frills rooms are spacious but dated with patterned bedspreads; some rooms have kitchenettes and ocean views. There are two restaurants and a beach bar, but there is a pesky charge for Wi-Fi.

The whitewashed facade of Oasi di Kufra is nicely decorated with bright flowers and clusters of sleek furniture surrounded by green plants and short palm trees. Indoors, the tiled lobby includes neutral wicker furniture topped with white cushions. An abstract blue mural is painted on the wall behind the wooden reception desk. One corner of the lobby has an unexpected Moroccan vibe with wooden latticework walls and blue tiled pillars. A grand piano is a nice touch. Most guests gather on the outdoor wooden terrace overlooking the beach. Green plants and white furniture give the space a chic, streamlined look.

Oasi di Kufra's beachfront location inside the Natural Park of Circeo is its best selling point. The sand is powder soft and the protected cape is calm for swimming and a variety of water sports. Cycling, walking, and boat trips are popular here. Sabaudia's center is about one-mile away, meaning a car is required for those that want to explore. Semi-covered parking at the hotel is free. It's about an hour's drive to Leonardo da Vinci International Airport in Rome.

The 120 rooms at Oasi de Kufra vary in terms of size, layout, and decor but each is bright and simply furnished. The biggest rooms sleep up to four people and have kitchenettes with two electric burners and a sink, plus cookware and dishes. Floors are tiled and the patterned bedspreads could use an update. Watch out for twin beds pushed together to make a double. Minibars, flat-screen TVs, and air-conditioning are standard. Basic bathrooms include showers and single sinks. The best rooms have furnished balconies overlooking the beach. Past guests report the pleasant sound of the ocean. Expect a charge for Wi-Fi; some rooms have zero signal.
