WESTERN Hotel Rome Airport occupies a white three-story building with
a large parking lot on a quiet residential street in Fiumicino. The lobby is modern, spacious, and
bright, with large floor-to-ceiling windows, shiny gray floors, and
walls painted a vivid burnt sienna hue. Contemporary armchairs in yellow, orange, and dusty rose colors are arranged in clusters by the wall of windows. The adjoining
restaurant has a similar ultra-modern look thanks to its many
windows, sleek furniture, and soft gray and white color scheme
punctuated by bright red tablecloths. Most of the guests staying here
are couples traveling together on vacation, or business
travelers catching an early morning flight.

WESTERN Hotel Rome Airport is located in Fiumicino, just a five-minute
drive to the Leonardo da Vinci International Airport on the hotel's airport shuttle (which is
charged extra and operates on a limited schedule). Rome city center is a
35-minute drive from the hotel. The area around the hotel is
residential and quiet, with a few restaurants and cafes in the
vicinity, and the beach is a nine-minute drive away. Other places of interest in the vicinity include the
archaeological area of Porto di Traiano (15-minute drive), the
excavations and museum at Ostia Antica (nine-minute drive), and
the 15th-century papal fortress Castello di Giulio II (nine-minute
drive).

Most
of the guest rooms and suites were renovated in 2015 and have a
fresh, modern look, awash in soft, neutral hues and furnished with contemporary wooden pieces. Large windows fill the spaces with light, while soft gray, beige, and peach colors contribute to a clean, light, and airy look. Modern bathrooms are fitted
with gray floor and wall tiles and contemporary-style fixtures that include vessel sinks and bidets. Some bathrooms have large walk-in showers, while suites also add whirlpool bathtubs. Guest rooms that have not yet
undergone renovations are decorated in a more classic style, with a red
and beige color palette that includes striped wallpaper and crimson bed runners.
These rooms reveal a few signs of wear and tear, like worn carpets,
but the white-tiled bathrooms are spotless. All of the rooms are
equipped with air-conditioning, free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs, minibars, safes, tea/coffee facilities, hairdryers, and free toiletries in the bathrooms, plus some rooms have balconies. Guests should note that there have been some complaints about small rooms that can feel cramped, as well as noise issues due to passing
aircraft.

In general this Best Western does an excellent job of providing all the features a traveler would need at an airport hotel with an isolated location. A
free continental breakfast buffet is served each morning in the
on-site Concorde restaurant, which is also open for lunch and
dinner and serves Italian regional cuisine. There's an attached
bar, as well as a large open-air terrace, plus room service is available. The hotel also offers a large outdoor pool surrounded by a sundeck lined with loungers. The on-site fitness center is spacious and bright, well-equipped with Technogym equipment like treadmills,
stationary bicycles, and fitness and weight machines. An
airport shuttle service is available for an extra fee, which many
guests find expensive considering that the airport is only a five-minute drive away. Also, the shuttle does not run throughout the
day, and guests should check exact times with the hotel management. Business travelers are catered to with four meeting rooms as well as a business center, plus Wi-Fi is free throughout. Free on-site parking is available, and other
services include dry cleaning and laundry service.
