Many travelers choose the Fiuggi's Ambasciatori hotel for its spa, so don't be surprised to see the patrons relaxing in the hotel's public spaces in their bathrobes now and then. The hotel was renovated in 2009, giving the public spaces a fresh, modern feel. However, not all of the guest rooms have been completely refurbished, so the decor in some looks tired and outdated. There are various room types, including handicap-accessible (which can be helpful for those visitors drawn to the town of Fiuggi for healing purposes). There's a restaurant that serves excellent Italian food in charmingly chic spaces that have somewhat of a homey vibe. While the hotel tends to attract leisure travelers looking for relaxation, a large conference room and free Wi-Fi make the hotel appealing to groups of business travelers as well.
Scene
Relaxed, modern atmosphere with classic decor
Though the hotel appears to be a standard mid-size hotel from the outside, the interior reveals itself to be far more special. Its location in a medieval spa town doesn't stop the Ambasciatori hotel from being modern and airy, particularly in its public spaces. But that's not to say the decor is by any means minimalist. In fact, its classic marble floors, antique tables, and elegant sofas are a nice contrast to the high ceilings and light colors. And in staying true to its "spa town" roots, the hotel has a very relaxed vibe -- don't be surprised to see guests walking around in their bathrobes.
Location
Easy access to the hotel from major Italian cities via the A1, the railway station, and Fiumicino and Ciampino airports
Located about 50 miles southeast of Rome and easily reached via a train and bus transfer or by car, Fiuggi is a small medieval town known for its healing thermal springs. The Ambasciatori hotel is in the center of town with easy access to the two fountains famous for their restorative drinking water: Bonifacio VIII and Anticolana. Popular nearby attractions include wine tours and nature walks. The hotel can also help arrange tours of the abbeys of Casamari, Trisulti and Subiaco. The property is about an hour's drive from Rome and about a two-hour drive from Naples.
Rooms
Rooms are in various stages of renovation, but all have basic amenities
The Ambasciatori offers a mix of standard and superior room types. Though the majority of the hotel was renovated in 2009, updates to some rooms have still not been completed, so the decor can be hit or miss. Renovated rooms are clean, simple, and modern (picture muted wall colors, dark wood finishes, and white linens). Rooms come with flat-screen TVs, rainfall showerheads, and mini-fridges. All have air-conditioning and hairdryers.
Features
The hotel's most notable feature is the Tangerine Spa, complete with pool, sauna, and Turkish bath
The Ambasciatori's most notable feature is its Tangerine Spa that was added to the property in 2006. In addition to treatment rooms, this luxe space features a bevy of amenities that include a hydrotherapy pool, a sauna, Turkish bath, relax zone, and fitness center (albeit a tiny one). Outside the spa, the hotel offers plenty of opportunities to get outdoors and enjoy the beauty of the surrounding area, including mountain bike tours and nature walks. The hotel serves pre-fixe and a la carte Italian meals in chic dining rooms and also offers 24-hour room service. For families, special children's menus and babysitting services can be arranged. The property also has parking and free Wi-Fi throughout.
