Bottom Line

Wynn Las Vegas is a modern luxury hotel at the northern end of the Las Vegas Strip, a bit far from the action. Its 2,716 air-conditioned rooms have posh interiors with large flat-screen TVs, marble bathrooms, and gorgeous Strip or mountain views. Upgraded Tower Suites include perks like a private pool, private check-ins, and free breakfasts. Wynn’s sprawling casino is one of The Strip’s most chic, but it can be smoky when crowded. The 13 fine-dining and casual restaurants include a steakhouse, Asian, Italian, and American cuisines, plus a raved-about buffet with often long waits. Other amenities include multiple pools, a spa and gym, nightclub, wedding spaces, and meeting rooms. Although the 18-hole golf course closed in 2017, it's set to reopen by end of 2019. Travelers seeking a sophisticated stay without a casino might consider the Mandarin Oriental, Las Vegas.

What are the Design and Scene Like at Wynn Las Vegas?

One of Las Vegas' classiest luxury options, with artsy interiors, an upmarket vibe, and fun pool and nightlife scenes.

What are the Design and Scene Like at Wynn Las Vegas? Wynn Las Vegas

There’s no doubt the 2005-opened Wynn Las Vegas is a top-shelf luxury hotel when it comes to options along The Strip. The 45-story, glass-walled tower is set on a 215-acre property that includes The Strip’s only golf course. The course closed in 2017 to make way for a new construction project, but the company has since announced it's keeping a course that will reopen in late-2019. Its glass-ceilinged atrium is the perfect example of its classy take on Las Vegas luxury, and while it's all quite polished, don't expect anything subtle when it comes to style. It's Vegas, after all. More than 110,000 flowers have been used to create sculptures like hot air balloons and life-size carousels, for a hint at the attention to detail you'll find here. Elsewhere, expect wrought iron accents, lots of rich white hues, mosaics, and just the right level of shimmer.
However, we didn’t like the long check-in lines (it took more than 30 minutes to get our room key). The hotel itself feels like a sprawling gilded city, and can be almost intimidatingly large. The size doesn’t detract from its overall regal vibe, though. Plus, the expansive grounds mean guests can disperse around the outdoor pools, entertainment venues, buffet and gourmet restaurants, and the casino. Unfortunately, like nearly every casino-hotel in Las Vegas, the posh vibe is let down a bit by the abundance of smoke in the casino. In any case, the Wynn attracts a variety of travelers -- a majority of which are couples -- of all ages from throughout the United States and around the world.

Where is the Wynn Las Vegas Located?

Long walk from Las Vegas Strip highlights, but across the street from the Fashion Show Mall and with free parking.

Wynn Las Vegas is situated at the north end of the Las Vegas Strip, across the street (and a seven-minute walk from) the Fashion Show Mall. The location’s a bit quieter than other central Strip spots and a healthy walk -- or most likely a taxi ride -- to nearby attractions. The Stratosphere Hotel and Casino, with its soaring tower and sky-high thrill rides, is a five-minute drive away, while it's 10 minutes by car to the LINQ pedestrian shopping area. The Bellagio’s famous musical fountains and the sights at the Paris Las Vegas are a 10-minute drive away as well. It will take just a bit longer to reach the iconic "Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas" sign and the Mob Museum -- which traces Las Vegas’s mobbed up history. Budget 50 minutes by car to the Hoover Dam and Lake Mead for those looking to take a day trip.
Depending on traffic, McCarran International Airport is a 10- to 15-minute drive from the hotel. Ride-share services such as Uber and Lyft are both available in Las Vegas. Both on-site valet parking and self-parking are free for hotel guests

What are Rooms Like at the Wynn Las Vegas?

Attractive and bright rooms with floor-to-ceiling windows, huge flat-screen TVs, and impressive bathrooms with showers and separate tubs.

What are Rooms Like at the Wynn Las Vegas? Wynn Las Vegas

With floor-to-ceiling windows, Wynn’s air-conditioned guest rooms make for a light and airy stay. Rooms feature a mix of one king or two queen beds with plush tan headboards, woven-effect walls, and Pop Art-inspired accents. Views of either The Strip or the mountains are gorgeous. Light sleepers should avoid pool-view rooms, though, as even on higher floors pool parties are audible until quite late at night. Standard features include flat-screen TVs with cable channels, Chesterfield-style tan loveseats, and marble surfaces. Techie options like console-controlled lights, automated blinds, and climate control are a nice plus, too. Minibars are stocked with liquor, beer, soda, champagne and there are abundant snacks (fees will, of course, be steep). Other room standards include irons, ironing boards, robes, luggage stands, and built-in electronic safes. Wi-Fi and local and domestic calls are included in the Wynn’s mandatory resort fee.
Spacious bathrooms are impressive, clad in creamy marble and featuring double sinks and modernist, brass-accented hardware. Glass-walled showers sit next to drop-in soaking tubs. All bathrooms also include small flat-screen TVs, scales, hairdryers, and illuminated beauty mirrors. In addition to the Wynn-branded Molton Brown toiletries, they feature body lotion and an array of other extras.
Upgraded Tower Suites are massive and feature full-size couches and perks like private check-ins, free breakfasts at Tableau, coffee and tea service each morning, and access to the private Tower Suites pool.

What are the Restaurants and Bars at Wynn Las Vegas?

A raved-about, massive buffet restaurant, Hawaiian seafood at Lakeside, a steakhouse, and several more casual and fine-dining options, plus several bars.

Wynn’s pricy food options include fine-dining and casual eateries that get mostly positive reviews. Be prepared for long lines though, especially at the massive breakfast/brunch and dinner buffets, which have a whopping 15 live cooking stations. Buffets cost between $29 and $53, depending on the time and day. The buffet also has all-you-can drink alcohol options for an extra fee. Other casual eats include Italian, a cafe, tapas, Asian, and a deli.
Fine-dining options include Italian, Japanese, American, and Chinese cuisines, with notable eateries including the Hawaiian seafood spot Lakeside, SW Steakhouse, and sushi and teppanyaki restaurant Mizumi. Most have dress codes that range from business casual to formal attire. Bars are scattered throughout the hotel.

What are the Pools Like at the Wynn Las Vegas?

Three lovely temperature-controlled pools, one of which is topless-optional and for adults only.

The temperature-controlled pools are surrounded by loungers and umbrellas, and include a huge family pool and an adult-only, topless-optional European Pool. The pools also feature heated whirlpools and accessible lifts. There's also a private pool for those staying in the Tower Suites. Cabanas are available, but cost extra. Additionally, the next-door Encore at the Wynn has fun, popular pool parties at its Encore Beach Club with performers such as David Guetta; guests get preferred, but not free, entry.

What’s the Casino Like at the Wynn Las Vegas?

Sprawling and packed with table games and slots, but occasionally smoky.

The massive casino is attractive and loaded with table games, slots, and a sports and race book. Past guests rave about this casino and consider it one of the top options in all of Las Vegas. Like all casinos, drinks are free when gambling. Note that it can get pretty smoky, especially when crowded. Travelers can sign up for the Wynn’s Red Card, which comes with perks and the ability to earn reward points
