Bottom Line

The budget-friendly Rita Suites are located in the shadows of the Wynn and Encore casino towers, a few minutes' walk from the Las Vegas Strip. A simple, no-frills hotel with all-suites accommodation, the property charges a resort fee despite offering little sense of being a resort -- it's more popular as an affordable place to sleep near the Strip. Suites are large, with separate bedrooms, living rooms, and kitchenettes, but their condition varies from fine to poor. The hotel also has a seasonal pool and a free continental breakfast on weekends.

Scene

Basic, no-frills hotel that attracts convention-goers and those who want to be near the strip

The Rita Suites attracts a mix of budget-conscious vacationers, business convention-goers, and locals needing a furnished place (the hotel offers daily rates). The decor and layout are uninspired and dated, and the small tiled lobby with two leather chairs is more of a passageway than a gathering place, despite the free coffee available all day. Till's, the hotel's bar, is open four nights a week, and is slightly more welcoming, with a wood bar counter, blue painted walls, darts, and numerous sports flags on the wall. It look like a cheap Cheers-like bar, and has a small patio adorned with small orange lights, which is probably the best place to lounge at the hotel. The pool, open during the spring and summer, is basic but does have a few chaise lounges, as well.

Location

Next to the Wynn and Encore casinos, a few minutes walk from the Strip

Set in the shadows the Wynn and Encore casino towers, the Rita Suites are conveniently located in north Las Vegas, just a short walk from Las Vegas Boulevard, where you'll find all the major casinos, and plenty of bars and restaurants. The hotel is off a main highway and about 10 minutes away from the McCarran International Airport.

Rooms

Large suites in widely varying conditions, from adequate to falling apart; some with kitchenettes

A collection of suites, the Rita Suites accommodations are spacious, but often leave something to be desired. Some are adequate and clean enough, while others are in desperate need of renovation. On our visit, some of the lights weren't working, nor were some of the blinds; one set of blinds fell off while we were there. There are holes in the carpets, and some of the doors are difficult to open. The bedding is thin and the furniture generic, with bland patterned upholstery and dated wood furnishings. Many of the suites have a challenging layout as well, where the living room curves around the bedroom. Bedrooms with two beds in them often feel cramped. The kitchenettes are useful, with mini-fridges, microwaves, coffeemakers, and toasters (Two-Bedroom Suites also have stoves), but often lack utensils.

Features

Seasonal pool, free (semi-reliable) Wi-Fi, free breakfast on weekends, and a pub-like bar

A simple, no-frills hotel, the property doesn't offer much in the way of features. There's a seasonal outdoor pool and an on-site pub, Till's Bar, which is closed in the early part of the week. The bar has an adjacent patio area as well. The hotel offers free Wi-Fi for two devices, though the connection can be spotty. Free breakfast is provided on weekends and at peak convention times.
