For an affordable break in the sun, the lower-middle-range Nazaret Apartamentos is a solid pick. The opposite Costa Eguise's main square has bars and restaurants galore, and beaches are a five-minute walk away. The hotel is showing its age, but atmosphere is cheerful on sun-drenched terraces, where loungers surround three outdoor pools. They're shared with sister property, Mansion Nazaret, but guests don't find this an issue. The 52 apartments are dated and non air-conditioned, but they come with kitchens, flat-screen TVs, and private balconies. An on-site restaurant is available, though it receives mixed reviews. All-inclusive rates are even lower at Apartamentos Blue Sea Costa Teguise Gardens, but it's less centrally located.
Scene
Well-located apartment complex with three outdoor pools, popular with budget-conscious couples
Sun-worshippers who don't mind a bit of wear and tear will feel right at home at Nazaret Apartamentos. Many of its retired couples and small groups are repeat guests, and they're joined by some younger families. Facilities like the three pools are shared with sister property, Mansion Nazaret, next door, but guests don't report any issues with crowding. A bright green and white entrance makes for a quaint first impression, and painted trellises here support cascading flowers. The lobby's floral-print curtains and faux-leather couches are solid reminders that this is one of Costa Eguise's longer-standing properties, and clash with the bright fuchsia accent walls and mix of woods. The front desk isn't staffed all the time, but security is provided 24/7. Also note that there are no elevators.
Location
Opposite the main square, a five-minute walk to sandy beaches
The hotel prides itself on location, and with good reason. Plaza Pueblo Marinero is across the street, and shaded terraces here offer everything from well-priced tapas, to pubs and bars; Tekkers Family Bar & Restaurant here is a favorite. Las Cucharas Beach is a five-minute walk away, and some smaller coves with diving schools are just as close. Car rentals are a good option, but not a necessity, as taxis and a bus stop outside the hotel. The number three bus route takes 20 minutes to reach the resort town of Puerto del Carmen, and around the same time for Teguise Market's cobbled streets. Lanzarote Aquarium is a 13-minute walk. The hotel lacks parking facilities, but street parking is free and generally plentiful, except in peak season. Lanzarote Airport is a 14-minute drive.
Rooms
Spacious, but dated, apartments with kitchens and furnished balconies
Spacious One- and Two-Bedroom Apartments sleep a maximum of three and five, respectively. They're outfitted with modern amenities, but decor is decades behind and some elements are showing wear. The design includes wooden furnishings, faux-leather couch cushions in a rust color, gray-tile floors, colorful striped curtains, and patchwork bedspreads in green and yellow -- though some have more attractive white bedding and burnt-orange curtains. All apartments have sitting areas with flat-screen TVs, dining spaces, and kitchens equipped with full-size fridges, ovens, electric stoves, kettles, microwaves, toasters, and coffeemakers, plus necessary cookware. French doors open to small balconies furnished with plastic tables and chairs. More contemporary tiled bathrooms have shower/tub combos, basic toiletries, hairdryers, and towels, but note, housekeeping isn't provided daily. Apartments can be fitted with cribs. Most rooms overlook pools, but some back onto noisy bars, and early morning trash collections have disturbed some guests. Rooms aren't air-conditioned, but fans are available for a fee, as are safes. Room Wi-Fi is free, but unreliable. Welcome bottles of wine are a nice touch, as are free fresh-baked rolls delivered daily.
Features
Three pools and a restaurant serving breakfast, plus a pool bar
Three outdoor pools with terraces, loungers, and dining furniture offer space to relax and catch some rays. Guests should note only one pool is heated. The semi-outdoor pool bar serves drinks and snacks from midday to late afternoon. Blue and white-striped furniture here is cheerful, but still plastic. The restaurant's block colors and artwork feel fresher than the dated lobby, but many guests opt to dine at nearby restaurants, so the space is only really used at breakfast. At a fee, it offers cooked and continental options, plus fresh muffins. Evening buffets offer a set soup, entree, and dessert, and the restaurant closes for lunch. Guest computers with internet are free to use in the lobby. Reception can arrange vehicle rentals, plus activities and excursions. The hotel has no fitness or parking facilities.
