The 110-room Lancelot Hotel is a mid-range hotel with a fantastic location across the street from the beach and a 10-minute walk from town center of Arrecife. Both areas are visible from the hotel’s rooftop pool terrace, although guests complain that the pool is not heated. Inside, both the hotel’s shared areas and rooms are well-kept, but spaces throughout are largely dated. Suites, however, are fresh, with kitchenettes, separate lounges, and large terraces. All rooms come with flat-screen TVs, desks, and furnished balconies -- some with sea views. The hotel sees an even mix of leisure and business travelers. Those looking for a more intimate hotel, albeit in a less central location, might want to check out the Hotel Villa Vik.
Scene
A well-maintained, albeit largely dated, hotel that attracts business guests and vacationers
The Lancelot Hotel attracts a pretty even mix of business travelers and vacationers drawn by the hotel’s great beachfront location. A solarium overlooks the beach and has a few sun loungers, while on the roof is a sunny pool terrace, which has little portholes carved into its walls giving views over the beach and Arrecife’s historic center. Indoors, the hotel has attractive shining gray marble and whitewashed walls broken up by plush gray rugs and sofas upholstered in dated stripes of gold and crimson. The buffet restaurant is more contemporary, with the same polished marble, white and olive-green linen tablecloths, white wooden chairs, and a row of windows overlooking the Atlantic. Though generally the hotel has a laid-back atmosphere, occasionally road noise can be heard, particularly in lower-level rooms.
Location
Great setting on Arrecife’s sandy beach, 10-minute walk from the town center
The Lancelot Hotel’s location is its most alluring feature, across the street from Arrecife’s gold-sand beach and a 10-minute walk from the town center -- which has numerous shops, bars, and restaurants. It’s a 15-minute walk to Arrecife’s lagoon, a pretty seawater lake surrounded by pleasant cafes, and home to a number of boats which bob up and down on its surface. Expect a transfer time of between five and 10 minutes by car to Lanzarote Airport.
Rooms
Large, but generic and dated, rooms with furnished outdoor spaces
By and large, the rooms here are mostly identical, although some have sea views and some overlook the city. Standard rooms are well-kept, but they're dated and generic, with blue carpeting, simple wooden furnishings, and coral bed runners, throw pillows, and curtains. They have double beds, desks with chairs or stools, and armchairs upholstered in chintzy fabric. Bathrooms are far more polished, decorated with ivory tiles and shower/tub combos, plus hairdryers and free toiletries. All rooms have furnished balconies, but not all of them have sea views. All rooms have Wi-Fi, a minibar, flat-screen TV, and safe (fee).
Suites, meanwhile, are bigger and decorated in a contemporary style of light-wood floors and furniture, whitewashed walls, and neutral-tone linens. Their living rooms have a well-equipped kitchenette with a microwave, two-burner stove, coffeemaker, toaster, and kettle, as well as the usual cookware. A dining table and chairs and sitting area are also provided. Bathrooms have a bath and separate shower cubicle with a rainfall showerhead, and a bidet. Suites are up on the top floor and have large, furnished terraces that wrap around the rooms.
Features
Rooftop pool terrace and a small gym, plus buffet eatery
The hotel doesn’t have any outdoor space, but just across the street is a wide stretch of public beach. Additionally, up on the hotel’s roof is a small, unheated pool and adjacent bar, plus a lounger-lined solarium with views of the ocean. There is a small but decently equipped gym with a treadmill, step machine, cross-trainer and cycle machines, and some free weights. The restaurant serves a buffet-style breakfast and dinner, while light snacks are available in the bar. Food receives mostly positive reviews from past guests. There are several spaces on-site for conferences and events, the largest of which seats 100 guests. There is free Wi-Fi available throughout the hotel.
