Quiet, casual, and tucked away, the Ocean Residence Langkawi is a pleasant mid-range getaway. The lobby is located in a homey single-story building and features a couple of plush sofas and a coffee table with magazines fanned out on top, but it doesn't really inspire lingering. Far more inviting are the hotel's sprawling grounds, with lots of lush green space for running around plus three pools, one of which dips off an infinity edge into the vast ocean beyond. The resort caters to vacationing couples and families alike, and gets both Malaysian and international guests.

Decor varies a bit depending on room type; Containers, for example, have corrugated ceilings and exposed brick accents while suites feature wood panelling and recessed lighting on the ceilings. That said, most units feature simple modern but homey furnishings in neutral tones spruced up by solid-colored cushions and patterned throws. Bathrooms vary as well, but many have simple walk-in showers with electric water heaters and wall-mounted toiletry dispensers.
