Clarion Inn & Suites

The Clarion is housed in a two-floor building on well-maintained grounds with trees and shrubs. The lobby is a moderately attractive space with wood-beamed ceilings and leather furniture, but overall the public spaces have a somewhat nondescript chain look, particularly in the breakfast room, where guests gather for the free morning spread. The hotel draws leisure travelers willing to trade proximity to Lake George and the village for a location close to outlet shopping and amusement parks. Families benefit from the indoor pool and large rooms. The Clarion is one of the few hotels in the area that stays open all year long, as many of the properties closer to the lake are only open in summer. 

The Clarion Inn is off U.S. Highway 9, just east of I-87. The French Mountain Commons, Adirondack Factory Outlet Mall, and The Outlets at Lake George outlet malls are next to the hotel, and several restaurants are within a short walk. There are also numerous amusement parks within a short drive drive of the hotel: Magic Forest family fun park and Great Escape/Splashwater Kingdom amusement park and water park are both three minutes by car, and Water Slide World water park is a five-minute drive. 

The hotel is a little more than a five-minute drive from Lake George Battlefield park, the 18th-century Fort William Henry, Lake George, and its beach. Lake George village is a little less than 10 minutes by car, and it features numerous restaurants and shops, a winery, the Lake George Mystery Spot, the House of Frankenstein wax museum, and Shepard Park. Prospect Mountain, with its panoramic area views, is a 25-minute drive. Fort Edward bus and Amtrak station is a little less than 25 minutes by car. Albany International Airport is a 45-minute drive from the Clarion, and the center of Albany is a little less than an hour by car. 

Guest rooms at the Clarion are spacious and feature wood furniture and headboards, with green carpeting and red decorative throws on the beds to add a dash of brightness. Some units have two-poster headboards. While tidy and well-maintained, decor is slightly dated. All come with flat-screen TVs with HBO, plus microwaves, mini-fridges, coffeemakers, and free Wi-Fi, and Suites feature living rooms with sofa beds and wet bars. Many units have private balconies. Most bathrooms come with shower/tub combos (some Suites have jetted tubs), and wide granite vanities, and a decent supply of toiletries.

The Clarion's facilities are in line with a hotel of its level. The indoor heated pool is a little more 10 meters in length, it’s situated in a space with large windows and ample natural light, and there's a hot tub is at one corner of the deck. Doors open from the pool area to a large patio, a nice place for guests to relax and take in sun. A fitness center includes a weight machine, treadmills, recumbent bike, and stair-stepper. For dining, the free breakfast buffet features freshly waffles, eggs, sausage, and a wide range of cold items, with the spread getting mostly thumbs-up reviews from previous guests. There's no lunch and dinner restaurant, but several are within a short walk from the property. The Clarion also has a 24-hour business center, 24-hour front desk, and free on-site parking that can accommodate large vehicles. There is no laundry room on-site, but a laundromat is within a short drive of the hotel. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the hotel. The hotel has no elevator to rooms on the second floor, so guests with limited mobility might request a ground-floor room.
