Bottom Line

The Fraser Residence Kuala Lumpur is a sleek luxury property with 445 apartment-style rooms in the city centre, near Petronas Twin Towers and Bukit Nanas monorail station. Unfortunately, the central setting means traffic noise. Ranging from Studios to Penthouse Apartments, all of the modern rooms are spacious and equipped with washer/dryers, full kitchens, and big bathrooms with showers and separate tubs. Excellent facilities include a 24-hour fitness center with an outdoor deck, a spa, outdoor pool with a waterslide, an all-day restaurant serving Asian and Western fare, casual cafe, and play area for kids. This is a good pick for both business and leisure travelers, particularly those on long-term stays. Travelers wanting to be closer to the buzzing Bikut Bintang area -- with numerous restaurants and shops -- should consider PARKROYAL Serviced Suites Kuala Lumpur, but it lacks a restaurant.

Scene

Serviced apartment hotel with sleek, contemporary design and ample features

Opened in 2015, Fraser Residence Kuala Lumpur is a luxury serviced apartment-style property with big modern rooms and lots of features. The design throughout is polished and contemporary, utilizing lots of shiny marble flooring, wooden seating and furniture, and neutral-tone decor. Interiors don't have a ton of character but they're fresh and attractive. Exteriors include a lovely outdoor pool with lots of greenery, mosaic tiling, and a faux-stone water feature. Outdoor terraces and a Club Lounge with a living wall and floor-to-ceiling windows are particularly pleasant spots to lounge. The array of on site-features, including a spa and kids' play space, give the property an edge over other apartment-type hotels that lack many of these amenities. This is a good pick for both business and leisure travelers wanting to be in the Kuala Lumpur City Centre with the option to cook themselves.

Location

On a quiet street in business district of Kuala Lumpur

Fraser Residence has an excellent location in Kuala Lumpur City Centre. It’s within a 15-minute walk of many office buildings, restaurants, bars, and shops. There’s an expressway behind the hotel, which can lead to noise issues in rooms, however. Petronas Twin Towers are an 18-minute walk or five-minute drive away, while Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre are five minutes farther. For farther exploration, the Bukit Nanas monorail station is a five-minute walk away. The Bukit Bintang area filled with bars and tons of shopping is an eight-minute drive or 30 minutes on foot.

Rooms

Spacious, apartment-style rooms with kitchens, sofas, and washer/dryers

The 445 apartment-style rooms at Fraser Residence are suitable for both long-term and short-term stays, and consist of Studios, One- and Two-Bedroom Apartments, and penthouse units. They all have a similar sleek and modern design consisting of wood floors and clean-lined furniture, beige walls, white and gray linens, and teal-like rugs. Decorative accents are few. All units come with full kitchens equipped with large fridges, stovetops, microwaves, and all the necessary cookware and dishes, but no ovens; dining tables are in all except for Studios. Other home-like perks include washer/dryers, entertainment systems,  couches, and free Wi-Fi, though this is reportedly spotty.  Also standard are desks, flat-screen TVs, and closets with safes, ironing equipment, bathrobes, and slippers. Bathrooms are excellent and spacious, outfitted with showers and separate bathtubs, plus hairdryers and free Malin & Goetz toiletries. Some, but not all have outdoor spaces, as well as pleasant views. Unfortunately, some past guests have complained of noise from outside traffic.

Features

Full-service spa and well-equipped gym, all-day restaurant, and a lovely outdoor pool

Fraser Residence has all the features expected of a luxury hotel. Firstly, the well-sized outdoor pool is set in a lovely deck with lots of greenery. The pool has a hot tub, shallow section, and faux-stone centerpiece with a fountain and waterslide. Kids can also play in a colorful room with games, books, and a TV. Adults, meanwhile, may want to make use of the full-service Ozmosis Spa, an elegant place with treatment rooms. Sauna, steam rooms, and whirlpools are also available. A spacious and modern fitness center has ample cardio and strength-training machines, free weights, a yoga studio, and an outdoor deck with fake grass and lovely views of the city. The all-day Relish Restaurant serves local, Asian, and international cuisine in a pleasant space. Both a la carte and buffet options are available. A casual cafe overlooking the pool serves food from around 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., and room service is available 24/7. Travelers in Club-level rooms get access to a comfy lounge with cozy club chairs, couches, free breakfast and snacks, and computers. Wi-Fi is free but can be spotty. Free parking and free shuttle service to area attractions are also provided. A handful of meeting rooms are available.
