Bottom Line
The pet-friendly Tropical Palms Resort and Campground is a mid-range property with 150 units as well as RV hookups. Conveniently located off the 192 highway, the property is within a 10-minute drive of Walt Disney World, with Old Town and restaurants within walking distance. There are two pools, one large and one for kids, along with a poolside restaurant (Toucan Cafe), which serves burgers and fries. Air-conditioned cottages with wood flooring and flat-screen TVs include large, fully equipped kitchens, patios with seating, and picnic tables. But they are older, with plastic on the lamps, and some of the bathrooms have only showers, no tubs. Be aware that some spots for RVs don’t have sewer hookups. There's a fitness center with cardio equipment and a weight machine, and there is seating as well and well-landscaped green space throughout the property. Free Wi-Fi is available only at designated hot spots, and there is shuttle service (for a fee) to the theme parks.

Scene
A calm environment with tiki-style and pleasant landscaped grounds
The relaxed atmosphere at the Tropical Palms Resort and Campground filters into the lobby, which is done in tiki-style, with big leaf-shaped ceiling fans, wicker chairs with red-striped pillows, and a brown leather couch. Grass curtains on the windows and thatched roofing over the doors add to the island theme, and tea and coffee is available too. The property spans 67 acres of well-landscaped grounds, and there is a small lake with a deck. There's plenty of bench seating, covered by green or white umbrellas with string lights.

Rooms
Full kitchens, wood floors, and outdoor seating
Three different cottage styles are available, with varying pastel exteriors. All come with sofa beds, flat-screen TVs, and coffeemakers. Some units have fully equipped kitchens with white appliances and tan laminate countertops. Recessed lighting helps to brighten the interior, while the exterior includes decks with white plastic seating. Bathrooms have the same tan laminate countertops as the kitchens, in addition to wood paneling and flooring. All bathrooms have Beach Mist toiletries. Some have only showers, while others include shower/tub combos. Some of the cottages have a tired decor, with green comforters and pinkish wallpaper, dated couches and floral armchairs. Some of the lamps have plastic over the shades, and some rooms are small.
This property also has RV sites with picnic tables and full hookups (electrical, water, sewer, cable), but not all spots have a sewer option.
Features
Outdoor pools and on-site restaurant plus family-friendly activities
The outdoor pools are a main draw at the Tropical Palms Resort and Campground. A white picket fence surrounds the pool area, which has a volleyball net, along with white plastic lounge chairs, palm trees and shrubs. There’s a shallow kids' pool with a water umbrella, white picket fence, and lounge chairs. Toucan Cafe, the poolside restaurant, serves burgers and fries, cold drinks, and ice cream.
A children’s playground includes slides and a landscaped mini-golf course; there's a game room with a pool table and flat-screen TV -- guests must be at least 18 to use the game room. A fitness center, with bright blue-and-green walls and a window for natural light, has four cardio machines and one weight machine. Free Wi-Fi is available only at designated hot spots. This property is pet-friendly with parks for dogs and pet bathing areas (two pets per unit are allowed).
