Bottom Line

Polynesian Isles Resort is an upper-middle-range, 130-unit property with an island vibe. It offers condo-style accommodations, and looks more like a tropical resort than the average Orlando-area hotel. The grounds are beautifully landscaped, with lush greenery and paved paths throughout the property. In addition to its convenient location near Walt Disney World, Universal Studios, and SeaWorld, the hotel also gets bonus points for their units. The units have full kitchens, as well as washer/dryer combos, which are perfect for families and big groups, especially during longer stays. Rates at the Polynesian Isles are typically much less than comparable properties inside Walt Disney World.

Scene

Tropical-style island getaway in the heart of Orlando, and near the theme parks

The Polynesian Isles Resort's South Seas island-style vibe is evident from the moment guests walk onto the property. The hotel is set back from a wide street, and colorful flowers and well-manicured grass line the path to the main building. The thatched awning is the prelude to the beachy, wicker furniture that lie inside the lobby -- a bright and airy space with natural wooden decor, high ceilings, and gauzy white curtains. The units are located in several tan low-rise buildings around the property. Beautifully landscaped walkways -- dotted by tropical trees -- weave between the buildings, and there's even a lake on-site.Outside, there is a large space with several tables and chairs, and a big palm leaf ceiling fan. Also outside are the community pools, hot tubs, the playground, and several picnic tables ideal for picnics. The resort's location, amenities, and tropical ambiance attract families, as well as couples.

Location

Located within 15 minutes of Orlando theme Parks, shopping centers, and restaurants

The hotel is located within a 15-minute drive of Magic Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom, SeaWorld, Universal Studios, and Islands of Adventures. The resort is also just 25 minutes from Orlando International Airport. Within a 10 minute drive are Falcon’s Fire golf course, Cheers sports bar, Godfather’s Pizza, and Subway. There are plenty of dining options -- from fast food to high-end -- close by, and Publix supermarket, Walmart, and Target are also close for those who prefer to stay in and cook.Guests are able to walk along the pedestrian road on Irlo Bronson Parkway. There are multiple ticket sales venues along the main road for those who want to explore different activities from visiting Disney parks to taking an airboat tour. A car is highly recommended though -- the roadway is busy. If guests require a car, Alamo Rent A Car is near the resort, about a 30-minute walk away.

Each unit features a king-size bed in the master bedroom, a queen-size sleeper sofa, and two full baths. The kitchens come conveniently equipped with appliances and tableware, while in-room tech includes flat-screen TVs and iPod docks. Some units overlook the well-landscaped walkways, and others overlook the parking spaces in front of each building. Getting to one's car is easy. One caveat, however, is that free Wi-Fi is not available in rooms.
