Bottom Line

Legacy Vacation Resorts is a mid-range property with a fresh and well-kept feel, but guests should specifically request suites in the main campus for the best quality for their money. Perks include being just 20 minutes from the theme parks while still having access to nice on-site amenities -- including three pools and a mini-golf course. Rooms are spacious and clean, with flat-screen TVs, but lack privacy due to thin walls and door gaps. Guests should beware of the timeshare presentations that many feel can be annoyingly pushy. A comparable resort is the Wyndham Cypress Palms just a few minutes west, with similar pricing but fewer amenities.

Scene

Vacation ownership property transitioning to more modern accommodations

With its proximity to regional theme parks like Disney and Universal, plus suites with kitchenettes or full kitchens, the hotel draws a strong family and group contingent. Guests pull into a circle drive on arrival at the 311-room property, and enter a clean lobby with tiled flooring, brown leather seats, and vaulted ceilings. The buildings are spread out, and there are no elevators. Throughout the property there are three swimming pools and a splash pad, with different levels of noise and privacy. The main pool is surrounded by lounge chairs with lime-green covers, and the Wooden Shack poolside bar.

Location

A quick drive to theme parks, near family-friendly restaurants

The resort is conveniently located less than 20 minutes from the major theme parks in Orlando, including Walt Disney World, Universal Studios, and SeaWorld. The resort is split into two sections with the more modern, main portion on the west side of the four-lane Poinciana Boulevard, and other units on the east side. In the surrounding area, there are plenty of family-friendly restaurants. A grocery store and Walmart are a five-minute drive away from the resort. Also close by is the Falcon’s Fire Golf Course.

Rooms

Updated rooms are clean and comfortable; beware of thin walls

As the aging buildings are undergoing staggered repair, some rooms are more updated than others. Also, the walls are rather thin, and there are gaps between some guest room doors and the floor. The resort offers five different styles of rooms, from the two-bed guest room to the two-bedroom deluxe with a full kitchen, washer/dryer, and space for eight guests. Overall, rooms are simple and carpeted, with cream-colored walls, white linens, and beach-themed wall art. Bathrooms mix tile with painted walls, and the shower/tub combos have jets for a hot tub-style bath. Guest rooms have desks and flat-screen TVs, plus AC units. All rooms have free Wi-Fi and cable channels.

Features

Plenty of outdoor fun, basic business amenities, and a marketplace with booze

The resort offers lots of outdoor activities: four pools, three hot tubs, a nine-hole mini-golf course, playground, sand volleyball court, and basketball and tennis courts. But wait, there's more: an activity center offers ping pong tables, an arcade room, and other games. There is also a splash pad for children to enjoy. For food, the Marketplace sells coffee and small bites throughout the day, along with alcoholic drinks and convenient everyday items. Outdoor grilling areas are available for use. The fitness center has floor-to-ceiling windows and offers several modern cardio machines, plus a flat-screen TV and free weights, and outside there is a quiet swimming pool and hot tub. The business center has internet, copy, and fax services available. As this is a timeshare property, guests will be asked if they'd like to meet in exchange for discounted theme park tickets and other perks.
