The 76-room Randles Court Hotel is an upper-middle-range property, within a short walk of Killarney’s town center. Decor is traditional, with elegant antique pieces and old-world details, including gilded oil paintings, chandeliers, and Oriental rugs. While the decor might be a little too fusty for some, the common rooms are inviting and filled with light. There are two on-site restaurants that emphasize seafood and local, fresh ingredients. The hotel has a lovely spa with a sauna and steam room, as well as a beautiful indoor pool, but there's no fitness center. Rooms are simply decorated and pleasant, with lovely marble bathrooms, though certain decor elements may strike guests as old-fashioned rather than elegant. Guests might want to also check out the neighboring sister property Dromhall Hotel, which offers access to Randles Court’s pool and spa, and has lower rates.
Scene
Elegant, traditional decor and a country house atmosphere
Randles Court Hotel is housed in a lovely brick and cream-hued building flanked by a large patio full of white garden furniture; a staircase leads to more seating on a terrace set amid shrubs, flowers, and trees. The inviting interiors are traditionally decorated in an old-world style, with antiques, Oriental rugs, gilded mirrors and oil paintings, and glass chandeliers. White lobby walls and cream-tiled floors provide a clean backdrop for the lavish details and ceilings with decorative moldings. The light-filled space has a lovely fireplace with an extravagant gilt mirror hanging over it, and large decorative vases on the mantelpiece. Crimson-colored ottomans provide seating. The lounge, with plenty of blue and yellow velvet armchairs, offer more space to linger with a drink or a book. Some might find the decor a bit too fusty -- the room is busy with a printed carpet, lots of paintings adorning the pale-pink walls, and decorative flourishes like candelabras and statuettes -- but it's pleasant with a fireplace, and lots of comfortable corners to retire in. With a medley of lavish details sprinkled about, the hotel has a country house vibe.
