The Seelbach Hilton Louisville
500 S 4th St

The four-pearl Seelbach Hilton is a historic landmark hotel centrally located in downtown Louisville, a short walk to several attractions. The Suites in the hotel’s 321-room inventory are especially spacious and distinctive, but Standard Rooms vary in size and layout, and their traditional decor is lackluster and looks tired. Bathrooms are small as well. Its opulent, fine-dining restaurant and Rookwood Pottery-tiled Rathskeller are truly unique attractions with colorful histories. An attractive alternative could be the nearby Brown Hotel, another upscale, historic property, but expect to pay slightly higher rates to stay there on most dates.

The Brown Hotel
335 W Broadway

The four-pearl Brown Hotel is a historic property with ornately decorated public spaces and a fine-dining restaurant. Its 293 guest rooms are spacious, comfortable, and tastefully decorated in traditional furnishings, but bathrooms are just average for an upscale hotel at premium rates. The free downtown shuttle helps compensate for being farther away than many other downtown hotels from the city’s many riverfront attractions. While competitively priced with other upscale hotels in the area, there are options worth considering. For a modern hotel near the riverfront and convention center, the Louisville Downtown Marriott is a good choice with comparable amenities and rates.

Louisville Marriott Downtown
280 W Jefferson St

The four-pearl Louisville Marriott Downtown is a busy yet well-maintained conference hotel connected to the Kentucky International Conference Center in downtown Louisville. Although not luxurious, its 617 rooms are clean, comfortable, generally spacious, and tastefully decorated, with flat-screen TVs, coffeemakers, and mini-fridges. An indoor pool, a whirlpool, and three dining options are attractive on-site amenities. But on-site parking is expensive, and Wi-Fi is only free in public areas, not in rooms. Rates can be expensive on certain dates, but it’s competitive with other upscale business hotels downtown, such as the adjacent Hyatt Regency Louisville, which offers a nearby alternative.

Embassy Suites by Hilton Louisville East
9940 Corporate Campus Dr

The upper-middle-range Embassy Suites by Hilton Louisville offers 150 spacious suites with separate living rooms and bedrooms, plus two flat-screen TVs and wet bars in each. The free cooked-to-order breakfast and free afternoon reception add value, as do the indoor pool and hot tub. But, it’s in a business park about 20 minutes east of downtown with no restaurants within a reasonable walk. For a comparable, suites-style hotel with lower rates on many dates, the nearby, mid-range Homewood Suites Louisville East is an attractive option -- with an outdoor basketball court.

Homewood Suites Louisville East
9401 Hurstbourne Trce

The mid-range Homewood Suites Louisville East has 100 modern and homey rooms with kitchens that are ideal for guests on long-term stays. Located outside of central Louisville, the hotel features a lap pool, hot tub, basketball court, jogging track, and a gym with cardio and core-training equipment. The cozy lounge hosts a free daily breakfast and weekday socials with free drinks and food on select nights. There’s no on-site restaurant, but the hotel has a 24-hour pantry and provides a free grocery-shopping service. For a hotel closer to downtown, guests might want to compare rates at the Courtyard by Marriott Louisville Downtown.

Hyatt Regency Louisville
320 W Jefferson St

The 393-room Hyatt Regency Louisville, is a business hotel in the heart of downtown that's connected to the Kentucky International Convention Center and the Fourth Street Live! entertainment district. Modern rooms are spacious and sober at this upper-middle-range property, and some suites even feature kitchenettes. Einstein Bros. Bagels, Sway restaurant and bar, and a market with snacks are on-site, plus a 24-hour business center, an indoor pool, outdoor tennis court, and 24-hour gym. Travelers might want to compare rates with the nearby Louisville Marriott Downtown, which offers more in-room perks.
