Bottom Line

The Hyatt Regency Jersey City
is a 351-room upscale hotel with stand-out features like an indoor saline pool, modern event spaces, and The Vu Resturant, which has outstanding views of New York City and uses locally sourced ingredients. As the hotel is located right on the Hudson River, lower Manhattan is only 15 minutes away by PATH train or ferry. Modern guest rooms include vintage-style furniture but not all “Manhattan Sky” room upgrades live
up to their name. Though the commute into New York is easy, similarly priced and more stylish rooms are available at the SoHo Grand and Tribeca Grand Hotels in lower Manhattan, without the need to commute back and forth to New Jersey.

Scene

Upscale chain hotel with gorgeous views of Manhattan

The hotel's exterior gives initially gives off an office-park vibe, but the bright lobby
is airy and minimalist, with lots of neutral tones, a few dashes of color, and lots of windows. The wrap-around Hudson River promenade is inspiring for couples and families, and the hotel’s common spaces offer plenty of seating for its many business travelers to catch up on email or grab a drink. The furniture throughout the common spaces is soft-colored and chunky, the kind used in lots of higher-end chain hotels, giving these areas a generic feeling. That aesthetic carries over to The Vu Restaurant
and Lounge, which looks like it could be found in an airport terminal, though the emphasis here is on the views of Manhattan, which are amazing at night. Guests here run the gamut from business travelers to families.

Location

Lower Manhattan is just one stop away on the PATH train.

The World Trade Center, Wall
Street, and New York City subway lines can be reached in less than 15 minutes during peak hours from the adjacent
PATH station or Hudson River ferries. This area of Jersey City is sometimes called "Wall Street West" because many major business and financial firms have offices here, making the hotel a convenient base for business travelers. The immediate area isn’t brimming with charm
or interesting dining options, but the trendy Grove Street area of Jersey City is a 15-minute walk away. Newark Liberty Airport is a 25-minute drive from
the hotel depending on traffic, and the Liberty State Park and Science Center,
a fun choice for families, is just 10-minutes away by car.

Rooms

Simple, modern rooms, though views of New York City vary

Standard Rooms are
spacious and have cozy window-side benches, 37-inch flat-screen TVs, mini-refrigerators, free Wi-Fi, coffeemakers, and optional turndown service, but the decor is bland and the few splashes of colorful wall art seem like an afterthought. Hyatt’s own Hyatt Grand beds are comfortable, and hypoallergenic-certified rooms are available for allergy sufferers. The granite bathrooms are large, with full-size baths, and stocked with KenetMD's high-end products. Suites are more
attractive, with bright tile-work, retro-inspired furniture, bright art, and sculptures. While many rooms offer views of Manhattan,
it’s not always worth paying for the “Manhattan Sky” upgrade and guests should
ask to see the room in advance and decide for themselves. Business Plan packages offer extra amenities like a free bottle of water, free breakfast, and free in-room newspaper, though the room itself for this level of booking will be the same as a Standard Room.

Features

Indoor saline pool and local touches on The Vu Restaurant's menu

The cardio-heavy 24-hour free fitness center and small, indoor saline pool provide plenty of options to maintain a workout regimen. The Vu Restaurant adds a local, sustainable twist to the menu's blend of creative
plates and standard hotel fare by using honey collected from hives on the hotel's roof in some of its dishes. Vu Lounge, the hotel's bar, offers a variety of cocktails. Though Standard Rooms do not include free breakfast, Business Plan bookings do, as well as free shirt pressing and newspapers. Two large ballrooms, meeting rooms, and an outdoor terrace with skyline views of Manhattan are impressive venues for small business meetings, weddings, and conferences, and Hyatt's own audiovisual team and meeting concierges are on hand to provide support. New York City souvenirs and any forgotten travel essentials are available in the gift shop in the lobby, which stays open late and Wi-Fi is free throughout the hotel.
