The 166-room, all-inclusive Hideaway at Royalton Negril is an upscale, adults-only property along a pretty beach. Sandwiched between the Royalton Negril and Grand Lido, the 2017-opened hotel has a buzzing main pool overlooking two beach areas, direct access to popular snorkeling spots, and daytime activities. All other features are shared with the Royalton, including over a dozen restaurants and bars -- Italian, buffet, Asian, and steakhouse eateries, to name a few -- the swish spa, fitness center with daily classes, non-motorized water sports, and disco nightclub. Modern and elegant rooms are outfitted in soft hues, and come with jetted tubs, furnished terraces, free Wi-Fi, and minibars. On the downside, some past guests have complained of loud poolside music and activities, as well as long wait times at restaurants. For a quieter adults-only spot, consider the nearby Couples Swept Away.
Scene
Adults-only all-inclusive with vibrant oceanfront pool and numerous facilities
The former Grand Lido was demolished in 2015, and built back up as three separate resorts with fresh and contemporary interiors. Opened in 2017, the Hideaway is sandwiched between the two others: the clothing-optional Grand Lido Negril Au Naturel All-Suite Resort and family-friendly Royalton Negril. It has its own ocean-view pool that has a buzzing vibe due to pop music, a swim-up bar, and daytime activities such as water aerobics. Two small beach areas and an open-air lobby are also on the Hideaway's grounds, but most features are found next door at the Royalton. This means guests will likely encounter children around restaurants and if using the water sports. However, the atmosphere is mostly quiet and laid-back at the beach. This is a good pick for adults who want access to ample features and don't mind occasionally running into children, but travelers wanting a truly adults-only experience should consider Couples Negril. For a more boutique, intimate experience, consider The Caves, which has a gorgeous cliffside setting but isn't along the beach.
Location
Beachfront setting in the north area of Negril
Hideaway at Royalton Negril is set along the southern section of Bloody Bay in Negril. The beach is a bit narrow and calm adjacent waters are often filled with seaweed, but it's pretty and snorkeling is popular here. Kool Runnings Waterpark is a two-minute drive south, while the famous white-sand Seven Mile Beach is around seven minutes in the same direction. Rick's Cafe, a popular bar and music venue where locals and tourists cliff-dive, is an 18-minute drive south. Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay is a 90-minute drive away.
Rooms
Upscale rooms with jetted tubs, ocean-view terraces, and minibars
All rooms are decorated in the same elegant, contemporary, and bright style. Expect soft hues, white or natural wood furniture, cream walls, leather seating, and tile floors, comfy bed linens, and silver metal wall sculptures. Floor-to-ceiling glass windows and doors let in lots of light, and lead to furnished terraces with ocean vistas. Those on the first floor have swim-out access to the pool. Swish features include stand-alone jetted bathtubs, walk-in showers, and velvet chairs, plus there are free minibars with Red Stripe, flat-screen TVs, work desks, coffeemakers, and closets with electronic safes. Hairdryers, Royalton-branded toiletries, and scales are also provided in the bathrooms. Some suites add separate living spaces with dining tables, bar areas, and couches. Travelers that book a Diamond Club room get extra perks such as separate check-in, in-room liquor, and snacks and drinks in exclusive lounges.
All-Inclusive / Food
Unlimited dining at several restaurants, plus multiple bars
The all-inclusive rates cover all restaurants and bars on-site, though only Diamond Club guests get top-shelf liquor. The main Gourmet Marché serves international buffets for all three meals, closing for two to three hours between each. Hideaway guests eat in their own section, but the varied buffet spreads are open to all guests. Specialty restaurants include the teppanyaki and sushi spot Zen, Tex-Mex Armadillo, Grazie Italian Trattoria, Hunter Steakhouse, and Dorado seafood eatery. Hideaway guests can eat at Ocean Point Bistro, a French eatery at Grand Lido. As reservations aren't required, some past guests have complained of encountering long wait times at restaurants. Additionally, fine-dining tasting menus are available at C/X Culinary Experience for an additional fee. Food across the board largely receives positive reviews.Several bars are on-site, such as the swim-up bar at Hideaway, a sports bar and lounge with foosball and TVs, lobby bar, and beachfront bar. XS Disco Nightclub is open late for music and dancing. A popular ice cream shop and cafe serving pastries and coffee are also available.
Features
Pool overlooking the beach, plus access to spa, water sports, and fitness facilities
Features actually on the Hideaway's grounds are limited, but guests have free access to all the facilities at Royalton Negril. Hideaway has a main beach area and smaller sandy cove, both with cushioned loungers under umbrellas. However, there are limited sunbeds, so guests may find themselves having to go next door to the family-friendly section if it's packed. Overlooking the ocean is the adjacent main pool, which is a decent size and has a swim-up bar. Generally it's laid-back, though loud pop music and daytime activities such as water aerobics can be a nuisance to those wanting peace and quiet. Private cabanas are available for a fee. For further relaxation, a full-service spa offers a hydrotherapy circuit, hair and nail salon, and a range of treatments. The well-equipped fitness center has a variety of cardio and strength-training machines, free weights, punching bags, and yoga mats. Free daily fitness classes range from sunrise yoga and Zumba to kickboxing and spin classes. Tennis courts and non-motorized water sports are free to use as well. Meeting and event spaces, including lovely gazebos, are on-site and weddings are popular here. Wedding packages are available. Property-wide Wi-Fi and parking are both free.
