This small, colorful resort is usually the cheapest all-inclusive in Negril, and attracts budget-focused couples and families looking for a more intimate all-inclusive experience (there are just 65 rooms here). The buffet restaurant by the water has theme nights (such as Jamaican night with jerk chicken), and there are a pool and spa across the street. The hotel is right on a small northern stretch of Seven Mile Beach, a bit removed from the main tourist action, and there are a number of water sports available. Guests can also enjoy activities at nearby Sandals and Beaches resorts for an additional fee. Just note that rooms here are quite basic (not surprising for the price) and those on the beach side can be noisy at night.
Scene
The cheapest all-inclusive resort in Negril, with some facilities across a busy road
Like many budget resorts in Negril, the Grand Pineapple has a split plan, with rooms and facilities located on both sides of busy Norman Manly Boulevard. The resort helps compensate for this by having a crossing guard on hand, and as at most Negril resorts, there was a guard hut at the entrance of the property. Rooms on the beach side have the benefit of easier access to the sand, restaurant, and lobby, while rooms on the garden side are farther from nightlife noise and closer to the Red Lane Spa and pool. The Grand Pineapple has a more intimate feel than many all-inclusive resorts, and its colorful two-story buildings house just 65 rooms (compared to the 400-plus rooms at the Riu). The enclosed lobby at Grand Pineapple is small but charming, with bright, cozy armchairs and sofas. In addition to the reception desk, the lobby also contains information on nearby attractions, restaurants, and tours. There are discounts for guests that book their next vacation before leaving.
Location
Right on Negril’s Seven Mile Beach
The Grand Pineapple is on a small stretch of sand on the northern end of Seven Mile Beach, just north of Hedonism II and Sandals Negril Resort & Spa. It's too far to walk to the heart of the tourist action on the beach, but it's only about a five-minute drive to the biggest concentration of restaurants and bars. Pedestrians should be cautious when crossing the busy road between the resort sections. It's possible to walk along the sand to reach other restaurants and bars. Guests can hop in a taxi and reach the town center roundabout in less than 10 minutes or Negril's rocky West End (home of Rick's Cafe) in 15 to 20 minutes. Montego Bay's Sangster International Airport is about an hour-and-a-half's drive.
Rooms
Choose between beachside or poolside rooms.
With rooms on both sides of the street, guests have a choice between the beach side, with the restaurant, gift shop, whirlpool, and water sports, or the quieter garden side, with the pool, spa, and gardens. Rooms are basic, with motel-quality patterned bedspreads and occasional maintenance issues, but colorful and generally clean. Amenities include air-conditioning, coffeemakers, and in-room safes. Some rooms also have private patios or balconies. Most guests spend little time in their rooms here.
Features
Family-friendly activities and easy dining
With a spa, pool, and whirlpool, as well as a portion of Seven Mile Beach, guests have plenty of places to relax. Sailing, snorkeling, and beach volleyball are available, and while the resort only has one restaurant, the buffet menu rotates through different cuisines. The Grand Pineapple is one of the smaller all-inclusives in Negril, but guests have access to water sports and other activities at the nearby Sandals Negril or Beaches Negril, for an additional fee.
