Bottom Line

Deja Resort is a straightforward, no-frills establishment on a commercial strip with many businesses, and across the street from Doctor's Cave Beach. It provides spacious, tidy, simply furnished rooms that appeal to a mix of vacationing families and corporate travelers. This hotel has meeting rooms, frequently used by local business personnel, and some basic amenities that will appeal to those traveling on a budget, including a free breakfast buffet and free Wi-Fi. Other offerings include a fitness facility, pool with a pool bar, as well as a main bar, and on-site restaurant. Scene

An attractive, clean and well-kept hotel in a commercial tourist district

Deja Resort is a well-maintained, three-story, blue and white building, with a U-shaped driveway in front. Two large decks, available for guests to use, are located on the second and third floors, on the street-facing side. The ground level has small landscaped areas, with palms and tropical foliage, as well as outdoor seating for the hotel's restaurant, The Waterfalls Restaurant. At the rear of the building, guest rooms look out over a manicured courtyard that contains a white patio area, with a large birdbath in the middle. Indoor common spaces, such as the reception, dining, and breakfast bar areas, feature attractive marble tiled floors. The breakfast buffet is laid out in a large, open room, and guests can choose to eat indoors, at rectangular tables with red and blue table cloths, or at the hotel's outdoor patio seating.

Location

On the Hip Strip, next door to businesses, restaurants, and Doctor's Cave public beach

Deja Resort is located along a busy commercial street, known as the "Hip Strip," and is across the street from Doctor's Cave Beach. While guests are only steps away from a variety of restaurants, bars, and boutiques, this constant hustle and bustle might not appeal to those who prefer isolation. During evening hours, this street can sometimes take on a party atmosphere, and guests walking along the strip may be offered drugs, or hustled by street vendors to buy trinkets, t-shirts, and knick-knacks. However, the convenient location offers easy access to the beach, water sports, and nearby tourist attractions such as Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville restaurant. Fifteen minutes east by car, the Rose Hall Estate, a plantation home from 1770, will appeal and history and architecture buffs. About a half hour's drive away, outdoor sports enthusiasts can find the Martha Brae Rafter's Village, and take bamboo rafting tours of the Martha Brae river.

Rooms

Clean and simple rooms, with a focus on functionality

Rooms and suites receive lots of natural light from big
windows, and contain simple furnishings, including beds made up in blue
and white covers, desks, and bulky, upholstered chairs. All rooms have
telephones, 42-inch plasma TVs with free cable, and energy-saving inverter air-conditioning units. These rooms provide a
variety of views, from ocean to garden.
There are a total of 93 rooms here, and the primary difference between Standard,
Deluxe, and Jr. Suites is size, and what is included in a stay. Deluxe rooms
are larger than Standard and include room service. Jr. Suites also have room service, as well as
free coffee and tea. Spacious bathrooms feature a selection of towels, neatly
rolled and stored underneath sinks. Dispensers with shampoo and liquid soap are
provided in each shower, but no other toiletries are included.

Features

Offers all the basics for a comfortable stay, plus some nice extras

Breakfast is included in the cost of a stay, while lunch and dinner can be purchased at Deja Resort's Waterfalls Restaurant. The restaurant offers a menu with Jamaican, American, and European selections, and room service is available to those who stay in Deluxe accommodations or Jr. Suites. Guests who need airport transportation can make arrangements for this service through the hotel for an additional fee. The hotel has a main bar, the Drumbar, plus a pool bar. Parking is free here, as is use of the pool and fitness center. While Wi-Fi is free, the signal can be inconsistent, and may not work in some parts of the hotel. This hotel has a conference room that can seat up to 70, and two smaller meeting rooms. These rooms contain flat-screen TVs, or projector screens, making them suitable for business presentations. There is a small day-pass fee to use the neighboring public beach, but guests who purchase their day pass through Deja Resort receive a discount, and also are provided beach towels free of charge.
