Bottom Line

With colorful cottages and an open-air restaurant, Country Country Beach Cottages offers a fun, relaxed atmosphere on Negril’s Seven Mile Beach. The guest rooms at this small resort are housed in individual cottages located just a short walk from the water. Gardens and greenery offer the cottages some seclusion. The private beach area, though small, offers easy access to plenty of nearby restaurants, vendors, and shops. Overall, this budget property is a solid value -- with free breakfast and Wi-Fi -- but there are few on-site features and facilities are stark. It's worth comparing prices with the nearby [Negril Tree House Resort]().

Scene

This laid-back, bare-bones property attracts budget travelers.

Set on a pretty section of Negril's Seven Mile Beach, this value property is minimalist, but cheery nonetheless. The lobby is welcoming but small, with a large reception desk that takes up most of the room and leaves space for just a few chairs. Guests -- mostly budget travelers -- can often be found in the larger lounge area, with a spacious dining table, sofas, and armchairs. Here they can relax, chat, or take advantage of the free Wi-Fi. Overall, the vibe is laid-back and calm. The pool area and beach are rarely crowded, and the oceanside restaurant is nothing special, but nonetheless has a festive vibe with beachy decor and nice views.

Location

Located in a fairly quiet spot along a bustling hotel strip with easy access to Negril

The colorful sign for Country Country is easy to spot on the busy Norman Manley Boulevard, and though the hotel is right on a strip with many other hotels, the gardens and greenery help to keep rooms quiet and secluded. The main highway can be dangerous for pedestrians, but walking along the beach puts guests within a mile of a number of restaurants, bars, and shops. It's about an hour-and-a-half drive from the airport.

Rooms

Simple rooms -- housed in colorful cottages -- feature dated decor and amenities.

The Country Country features simple but comfortable rooms that offer more space than those at some other hotels nearby. Each room features a small sitting area with a futon or daybed, in addition to the main sleeping space. All also come equipped with helpful items that include umbrellas, mini-fridges, and brochures with info about area attractions. The tube-style TVs, however, look quite old and some guests have noted that the overall decor in the rooms could use a bit of an update. The bathrooms have walk-in showers with plain shower curtains and basic showerheads that look a bit worn. The rooms are housed in vibrant cottages located along a main path that leads to the beach. Since the property is quite small, they are all within a short walk of the water. Some guest rooms share the same cottage, while others are housed in standalone edifices.Though lush foliage protects the rooms from too much noise, it can be an issue -- particularly on weekends, since the hotel is just down the beach from nightlife spots that include Margaritaville. Prior guests also recommend that visitors bring bug spray, as mosquitoes can also be a problem.

Features

A private beach, a small pool, and the casual restaurant are the only features.

With a restaurant on the beach serving three meals a day, as well as a small pool and whirlpool that were added in 2013, the hotel offers guests several places to relax and unwind beyond the private beach area. Though the hotel itself is very small, its location on Seven Mile Beach gives guests easy access to restaurants, bars, clubs, and other activities on the beach, as well as nearby shops. However, there are few other on-site amenities; there is no spa or fitness center, and few communal areas.
