Bottom Line

The 29-room Ora Resort Liguria Hotel del Golfo is a small hotel dating back to 1915 located a five-minute drive from the center of town. The primary draw is its location along the water and every room has direct views of the beautiful sea; some have balconies. The simple rooms are all decorated with the same blue bedspreads and white wood furniture, creating a modern yet plain design. There is a pretty, private beach and an outdoor pool with a sunbathing terrace, but a car is a requirement for guests that want to explore the town and surrounding areas. The nearby Hotel Medusa is a good option that's located in the town center and has quick beach access.

Scene

Quiet and relaxing seaside hotel

Located in a primarily residential area away from town, the hotel is a quiet spot for both families and couples to enjoy the easily accessible beach. Perched along a hill, the hotel stands out with its beige and terra cotta paint and green shutters that line the façade. Although it’s an old hotel built in 1915, it has a more modern design; black and white tables and cushion seating fill the terrace. The lobby and common areas have old-fashioned blue sofas but there are unique touches like a green wall with bench seating and fishbowl at reception.

Location

Along the gorgeous Italian Riviera and a five-minute drive to town

The Ora Resort Liguria Hotel del Golfo sits in the scenic Finale Ligure, part of the Riviera delle Palme. Its main draw is an ideal location along the sandy beaches, providing scenic views for all guests. Although it’s a prime destination for beachgoers, guests that want to travel into town either have to walk 15 minutes along a road with no sidewalk or drive for five minutes. Note that there’s a free private parking lot for guests (street parking is hard to come by).The closest airport is the Albenga Airport, which is a 30-minute drive from the hotel. For those travelers that are making their way along the coastline, Sanremo is around a 70-minute drive and Nice is about two hours away.

Rooms

Simple rooms facing the sea

All rooms have plain blue bedspreads and white wooden furniture. Rooms are minimal with no wall art or décor aside from small bedside lamps. The notable feature is that every room faces the sea for stunning views at all times; rooms on the first floor are the only ones with balconies, but they are only separated by a short fabric banner. Bathrooms are on the small side but are clean and have modern fixtures like spa shower heads. They’re bright with beige tiling. Although most rooms have a glass walk-in shower, the Junior Room and Suite have a bathtub instead. All rooms have flat-screen TVs, free Wi-Fi, minibar, safe, and toiletries.

Features

Private beach and outdoor terrace for relaxing and dining

A gorgeous and sandy private beach is available after walking through a short tunnel; however access to the hotel’s umbrellas and sunshades require a hefty fee. There’s a wooden terrace with several black and white tables set up so guests can sit and enjoy the stellar view of the water. The terrace extends into an AstroTurf-covered area with modern chair and ottoman seating and lounge chairs under umbrellas for sunbathing. A small, clean pool sits adjacently. There’s only one dining option and that’s the pricey restaurant hotel, although the breakfast buffet is free. Its indoor area is traditional decorated with wooden chairs and beige linens, matching the same-colored walls and floor for a natural appearance. There is outdoor seating for travelers that want to look at the sea while they dine. An indoor bar has minimal décor aside from its modern seating options of either black scoop stools or red leather couches and ottomans. There are two meeting rooms at the hotel and a desk with computer in the lobby area. A private 40-car parking lot is also available for guests.
