Hotel Rosa

This relaxed, family-run hotel is situated inside of a traditional dark pink building with wrought iron balconies -- it's a classic style that's reflected in the interiors as well. The small lobby has black-and-white leather seating plus brass light fixtures, and welcome drinks and a free cocktail hour are offered. Pink patterned tablecloths and red fabric covered chairs date the breakfast room, while modern iridescent tiles shine against dark wood floors and colored mood lighting at AquaRosa Spa. The Hotel Rosa is in the heart of Alassio, just one block from the historic Budello di Alassio, a narrow stone alleyway lined with shops, restaurants, and cafes. The beach is just one minute away on foot, while the Parish Church of St. Ambrogio is a seven-minute walk away. The Caravel Water Park, a family-friendly destination, as well as Toirano Caves and Cervo are a 20 to 30-minute drive. The Genoa Cristoforo Colombo Airport is the closest major airport, and takes an hour and 15 minutes to reach by car, while the Alassio train station is about five minutes away by taxi. Popular destinations such as Ventimiglia, the Aquarium of Genoa, and the Balzi Rossi Caves are also around an hour's drive.

Rooms vary in decor -- some are more modern, while others are dated -- but all are pleasant enough and have balconies and air-conditioning. More modern rooms have stylish furniture and attractive, contemporary bathrooms, though more dated rooms have tired bedspreads, white formica furniture with oak accents, and old light fixtures. Most rooms are awash in creams and tans while some have bright green and red accents in the pillows and couches. All rooms have balconies, 20-inch flat-screen TVs with SkyTV, closets, safes, and welcome bags holding bathrobes and slippers. Most rooms have minibars as well and some have beautiful sea views. Suites are available with extra space, though the style varies. Clean bathrooms range in style as well. Some are adorned in modern brown mosaic tiles and contemporary fixtures, while others have worn gray tile and outdated fittings. Makeup mirrors and heated towel racks plus standup tile showers are in all bathrooms, and Suites have rainfall showerheads. Toiletries are provided, and some Suites have tubs.

A blue tile hot tub with jets and wonderful sea views stands out at the full-service AquaRosa Spa, which also has a sauna, steam bath, and ice fountain. A beauty parlor and salt cave are also available in the spa, in addition to a 24-hour fitness center with cardio and weight machines plus personal trainer services. Cocktails and beer are served at the on-site bar while the free American buffet breakfast offers a wide selection including eggs, bacon, cakes, fruit, and meats. A corner is designated with foods appropriate for young children as well. The hotel has a lovely rooftop terrace that is open in the warmer months.
