Belmond Hotel Splendido

Housed in a 16th-century Benedictine monastery, Belmond Hotel Splendido is the epitome of Italian elegance. The hillside location among the green trees and bushes offers spectacular views of the Portofino harbor. The interiors are elegant and sophisticated, with a pastel color palette found throughout. The dignified lobby features black and white checkered floors, arched doorways and window frames, wooden reception desk, grandfather clock, and antique-furnished lounge area. Hallways feature a similar vibe, with antique paintings lining the walls and stairways. The inside bar of the La Terrazza restaurant features delicate floral murals on the walls with a classic old-fashioned wooden bar. There is both indoor and outdoor seating available. Outside, the gardens are beautifully landscaped and the swimming pool features panoramic views of the Portofino harbor. Overall, the atmosphere is quiet and relaxed. Guests here are mostly couples looking for a romantic getaway; though the kid-friendly features also attract family travelers.

Set on a hillside in Portofino, Belmond Hotel Splendido has beautiful views overlooking the yacht-filled harbor. It's a 15-minute walk (downhill) to the hotel's sister hotel, Belmond Splendido Mare. There is a free shuttle between the two properties, which is a three-minute drive. There are several restaurants, bars, and shops along the busy Piazzetta; also a 15-minute walk from the hotel. The town's popular harbor is located next to the square. Museo del Parco is accessible within a five-minute drive. There's a bus stop at the bottom of the hill, a nine-minute walk away. Santa Margherita Ligure train station is 15 minutes away by car. Genoa Cristoforo Colombo Airport is an hours' drive from the hotel.

The 67 guest rooms at Belmond Hotel Splendido are classic with a neutral color-scheme. Expect wooden floors, white walls with yellow frames, white antique furniture, beige curtains, white linens with floral bed covers, soft lighting, and antique framed artwork. All suites include separate lounge areas, but the Presidential Suites are the most spacious with separate lounge and dining areas and large terraces. Amenities in all rooms include air-conditioning, flat-screen TVs, minibars, tea- and- coffee-making facilities, dressing tables, work desks, telephones, safes, and free Wi-Fi. Bathrooms include either a walk-in shower and tub or shower/tub combos. Hairdryers, bathrobes, slippers, and Bulgari and Molton Brown toiletries are provided. Connecting rooms are available for larger groups or families. All rooms feature private furnished balconies and terraces with views of either the gardens or the Gulf of Portofino.

The beautiful space features trimmed greenery and ocean views. There's a fitness center with a small selection of modern LifeFitness cardio and weight-training equipment, personal trainers, and sauna. The Wellness center also includes a spa which offers a variety of beauty, pampering, and relaxation treatments. An outdoor tennis court with private tennis couches is available. Kid-friendly features include the Smile Club, offering a variety of activities like arts and crafts and tennis lessons. Wi-Fi is free throughout the hotel.
