Hotel Pont Royal

Built in 1923, Hotel Pont Royal is in a tan stone
building with carvings of grape vines and terraces with iron-vine latticework. The boutique hotel has a literary and artistic past with patrons like F.
Scott Fitzgerald, Ernest Hemingway, Marc Chagall, and Joan Miro who visited the Signature Bar. It pays homage to its literary past with framed photographs
of writers and painters and their letters or quotes throughout the hotel. Guests check into a lobby with stone floors with gray diamond designs, a dark wooden desk, and a central red
chandelier. Curved benches in plush, red fabric surround a table topped with a vase of fresh flowers in
the center of the lobby. Signature Bar, the hotel’s on-site bar,
has a decor reminiscent of an old cigar bar: mahogany walls and
bar, dim lighting, low leather chairs, and wooden floors. In contrast, the
hotel’s library lounge, Salon Velin has purple carpet, plush chairs, and
couches, Japanese-inspired artwork, and a forest green antique wood stove.
The breakfast lounge, Salon Mosaique, has a sleeker style with purple and gray chairs, exquisite
paintings of peacocks on the walls, skylights, and a wall-to-wall window that
opens onto a Japanese garden. Most of the hotel's clients are couples who congregate in
the breakfast room or in the lounge.

Hotel Pont Royal is conveniently located in the center
of Saint-Germain-des-Prés, in
front of the Saint Thomas d’Aquin church and near public transportation. It’s an artistic and cultural center full of
galleries, publishing houses, and museums. The Rue du Bac metro station takes
two minutes to reach on foot. The hotel is about a 20-minute walk from both the Rue de
la Paix, a famous upscale shopping avenue, and Place Vendome, the famed square sporting Napoleon I's tower. The Louvre Museum
is a 12-minute walk away. It takes 18 minutes on foot to reach one end of the
Champs-Elysees. The Eiffel Tower is a 35-minute subway ride or a 14-minute
drive away. There are a variety of dining options on surrounding streets. Charles
de Gaulle Airport is a 35-minute to one-hour drive away, depending on traffic.

Hotel Pont Royals rooms are elegant but small, though they're somewhat standard for a Parisian hotel. Some rooms have a purple color scheme while others have a light blue
or orange color scheme appearing in the curtains, bed runners,
pillows, chairs, and couches. Certain furnishings are used throughout the hotel such as dark cherry-wood furniture, art pieces above the beds, and
heavy curtains. The look is contemporary but far from fashion-forward, and certain details like the wall-to-wall carpets and bed skirts feel old-hat. Each room includes a flat-screen TV and a minibar, while
Suites also have coffeemakers, separate living rooms, and the option of a small
balcony or, if booking the Panoramic Suite, a large terrace with woven furnishings. The bathrooms have glossy tiled
walls and floors, wooden shelves above the toilets, deep tubs with handheld
showerheads, and turquoise granite countertops. Fragonard toiletries, robes and slippers, and hairdryers are provided. It pays to confirm your room's views, as some have views of brick walls.

Guests at this hotel can begin their day with a
breakfast buffet in the Salon Mosaique, a breakfast room that opens onto a
Japanese garden. The breakfast is included in some rates, though it’s
costly as a stand-alone fee, and some guests complain the price doesn't match the offerings. The Signature Bar, the on-site bar and lounge, serves light dishes and
