Premist Hotel
occupies a charming traditional wooden building in Istanbul's
historic Sultanahmet district within walking distance of many major
tourist sights. This mid-range hotel has 33 comfortable guest rooms
decorated in an extravagant style, all with
air-conditioning, flat-screen TVs, electric kettles, well-stocked
minibars, and marble bathrooms. A downside is that rooms and
bathrooms tend to be cramped, and some have low or sloped ceilings.
A few rooms have balconies, some with partial sea views. A generous
breakfast buffet is included in the room rates, and Wi-Fi is free
throughout the hotel. Rates are competitive for this neighborhood,
but it's worth comparison shopping with the Hayriye Hanim Konagi (HHK) Hotel, which has cheaper rates and extra features such as an on-site restaurant, a rooftop
pool, a Turkish bath, and a sauna.
Scene
Well-maintained hotel with extravagant interiors
Premist
Hotel occupies a traditional three-story house with a neat wooden
facade painted in white, located on a quiet street in the charming
Sultanahmet district. The hotel opened for business in 2012 and is
impeccably well-maintained. That said, interior decor is extravagant -- bordering on goth -- and may not appeal to all tastes. The reception area is a narrow and
dark, windowless room with scarlet and black walls; it's decked out
with flashy gilded mirrors, sconces, tables, and candelabra-style lamps.
There's a pair of matching red-and-black velvet armchairs at the gilded reception desk. The adjacent courtyard garden
offers a pleasant respite from the flamboyant interiors. This is a
popular hotel with tourists visiting Istanbul as leisure travelers,
most of whom travel as couples. However, there's no elevator and the hotel's narrow staircase can be a challenge to negotiate for some, especially with luggage.
Location
On a quiet street in Sultanahmet, walking distance to many tourist sights
On
a quiet street of Sultanahmet, Premist Hotel is located within
walking distance of many of Istanbul's major tourist attractions, including the
Topkapi Palace, Hagia Sophia, and the Blue Mosque. There are many cafes,
restaurants, and shops catering to tourists in the
immediate area.- Six-minutewalk to Topkapi Palace Museum
Rooms
Small but elegant guest rooms decorated in bold reds and blacks
Like
the extravagant decor of the reception area, the guest rooms at
Premist Hotel are decorated in a flashy, ostentatious style. The
color palette is dominated by a bold scarlet, offset by white
painted walls. Matching red velvet curtains contrast with the black
furniture and gilded chandeliers. The guest rooms are on the small
side, and some have low ceilings. The bathrooms are compact, and
fitted with elegant marble sinks and showers. In-room
amenities include flat-screen TVs, minibars stocked with alcoholic
and non-alcoholic drinks, electric kettles, safes, irons and ironing
boards. Robes and slippers, hairdryers, and Molton Brown toiletries are also provided.
A few of the guest rooms have balconies, with charming views of
neighboring rooftops and partial views of the Bosphorus. Some past guests have complained of the noise of
other guests climbing up and down the wooden stairs.
Features
Free and varied buffet breakfast, free tea and coffee service, and free Wi-Fi
Premist
Hotel doesn't have many on-site features to offer its guests, although they do offer a large breakfast spread with coffee, tea, fresh orange juice, and a variety of different foods such as omelets, fruit, breads, pastries, cakes, yogurt, olives,
tomatoes, nuts, eggs, jam, cereals, and French toast. The breakfast
service takes place in a dark, windowless breakfast room. Guests are
also free to help themselves to free tea and coffee in
the courtyard garden available throughout the day. Wi-Fi is free throughout the hotel, and guests also
have access to iPads. Laundry and airport shuttle services are available for a fee, though guests who book a minimum of
three nights via the hotel website are offered a free one-way
