Bold, modern design that's hit or miss, but more hit than miss
The Nylo Dallas Las Colinas has a bold, modern aesthetic. The outside brick and metal structure gives it the feel of a classic loft renovation -- it could easily be a former factory that has been converted into condos. Inside, the trendy furniture can be somewhat uneven. Hanging half-moon chairs provide an interesting, if isolating place to sit, and the bright red and orange artwork, made by local Dallas artists, can appear somewhat at odds with the cold, gray-toned furniture. The cement structure and visible air ducts, meant to be unique and modern, give the hotel an unfinished quality.The LOFT, the hotel’s restaurant and lounge, is just as hip but warmer, with ruby red chairs and couches and an ample bar with leather seat backed stools. There's also, The Library, a lounge area with books, pool, and other games.

The Nylo is located in Irving, Texas, outside of Dallas. It’s a more suburban part of town and thus the area is quiet and sprawling, with the property surrounded by reasonably priced restaurants, businesses, and other hotels. The Nylo is a bit more than a 10-minute drive to Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, making it a convenient option for those aiming to get in or out of town quickly. A free shuttle is also provided to guests traveling within a five-mile radius of the hotel. Parking on-site is free.

Modern rooms might feel cramped
Guest rooms at the Nylo, like the common areas, are fun and modern. Warm pink and red lights brighten the cement and brick space, as does the blond wood desk, couch, and desk area. The rooms provide everything you need -- work space, seating area, a double or king-sized bed, and a brightly-lit bathroom -- but the lean, rectangular space can feel a little cramped, though the ceilings are high. And despite great efforts, the cement structure, spruced up and shined but still stained, may make some guests feel confined. Units also come with a flat-screen TV, free Wi-Fi, a Keurig coffeemaker, and an iPod docking station, in addition to free bottled water upon arrival. Bathrooms, equipped with rain showers, are stocked with Pure bath products.

Possibly the most engaging part of the Nylo is its outdoor pool patio -- two heated pools separated by a bridge on which six large mattresses are laid out. There are plenty of places to sit and lounge by the pool, in addition to an outdoor bar equipped with music speakers and a foosball table.
