Bottom Line

The five-pearl St. Regis Mumbai sits next to Mumbai's high end shopping malls, High Street Phoenix Mall and the Palladium Mall, and is known as one of the most luxurious hotels in the city. The 395 rooms have sophisticated decor with flat-screen TVs, kettles, minibars, and city views. Free personal butler service in all rooms is a nice touch and some suites have soaking whirlpool tubs in front of large windows. With wonderful on-site amenities ranging from a rooftop pool, spa, seven restaurants, and a nightclub, it’s hard to go wrong with the St. Regis. As a business hotel though, it’s quite busy with crowded elevators, sometimes slow restaurant service, and an occasional cold atmosphere. Travelers who want sea views and a closer location to the main attractions might consider the InterContinental Marine Drive.

Scene

Luxurious chain hotel with stunning interiors and a business clientele

The St. Regis Mumbai occupies India's tallest hotel tower, an imposing modern glass skyscraper overlooking the city and the Arabian Sea. But this St. Regis doesn’t just rely on an imposing exterior to impress. Inside, you’ll find what’s arguably one of the most decoratively overwhelming hotels in the city. Upon entering, guests must take the elevators to the 9th floor to reach the hotel’s lobby. The reception area is elegant with marble floors, high ceilings, large sculptures, and natural toned contemporary furniture. One hundred pieces of local art hang throughout the hotel. As guests explore the dining options, the decor becomes trendier, dazzling, and sometimes dizzying. Where Yukka restaurant has parquet floors and repeating square boxes on the walls and ceilings, the Luna Nudo Bar is stylish with fluorescent colored lighting, futuristic silver armchairs, glass chandeliers, and a marble bar. The Luna Gusta is a spectacular array of gold hanging chandeliers and picture frames, textured walls with green glass leaf displays, turquoise, yellow, and blue chairs, and brown and white patterned carpeting. It’s easy to enjoy a view from the rooftop pool, rooms, the nightclub, or restaurants here. Guests are mostly business travelers, enticed by the brand name and the luxurious interiors. However, families follow behind thanks to top notch family-friendly policies such as kids under 12 stay free. Take note that as a large business hotel, there’s often long queues for the elevator and service in the restaurant, room service, and reception can be reportedly slow.

Location

Located next to shopping malls, restaurants, and 12 minutes to the nearest train stop

For those who like to stay entertained, the St. Regis Mumbai is an ideal choice. It has a location in the Lower Parel, Mumbai’s entertainment district. The hotel is right next to the High Street Phoenix Mall and the Palladium Mall, which both house international luxury brands and a dizzying array of restaurants. The neighborhood is also filled with restaurants, bars, shops, and businesses. For those who want to experience tourist attractions, the Gateway of India Mumbai and the Taj Mahal are a 25-minute drive away. It takes 10 minutes by car to reach the Haji Ali Dargah. As for transportation, there’s a bus stop in front of the hotel and a train stop that’s 12 minutes away on foot. It’s a 27-minute drive to Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport.

Rooms

Sophisticated rooms with flat-screen TVs, kettles, minibars, and butler service

Rooms embrace the luxe and opulent style of the rest of the hotel. Most rooms have tan carpet with gold floral rugs and textured natural tone walls. Regal gold, bronze, and crimson accents are found on the beds and furniture, and traditional Rajasthani tikri artwork hangs on the walls. All rooms have city or Arabian Sea views. Amenities are plentiful with flat-screen TVs, air-conditioning, free Wi-Fi, kettles, and minibars. Free private butler service for things like coffee delivery and laundry service, comes standard with all rooms. Bathrooms are similarly top-notch with chocolate marble sinks, luxurious deep tubs, and separate roomy showers. Bathrooms are maxed out with features like hairdryers and free toiletries that include toothbrush and toothpaste, combs, dental floss, and nail files.Travelers who prefer more space will enjoy the separate living room in the Suites or the large Presidential Suite which has a kitchen, living room, dining room, bar and wine cellar, and whirlpool bath in front of large windows. Residential Apartments are ideal for long-term guests who want a two-bedroom space with a kitchenette and perks like free airport transfers and meeting room use.
