The Ananta Udaipur

The Ananta Udaipur is an upscale property with quiet, rural surroundings against the backdrop of Rajasthan state's rugged Aravalli Mountain Range. The rooms and facilities are spread across a huge expanse of tropical foliage, grass, and semi-arid desert soil, across multiple structures with stone facades and terra-cotta tile roofs. Because the property is huge, some guests are left with no other option but to call and wait for internal shuttles to take them from point A to point B, which is among the chief complaints of past guests. Most visitors are couples or families looking for a quiet alternative away from the center of Udaipur, and the hotel makes for an excellent wedding venue, with lots of outdoor event space for romantic ceremonies. 

The Ananta is located in a quiet, rural area outside of Udaipur. There's not much to see or do within walking distance, but the hotel does offer shuttle service into town. It's about a 20-minute drive to both the Monsoon Palace and to the main historic part of town on Lake Pichola, where major sites such as the City Palace and the Jagdish Palace are located. Anticipate about an hour to get to the Maharana Pratap Airport or about 25 minutes to the railway station.

The Ananta Udaipur offers contemporary, streamlined Deluxe Rooms, Junior Suites, Grand Suites, and a Presidential Suite. All units feature classic, Balinese-inspired interiors, characterized by high woven roofs, dark-wood trim, and gloss-finished wood floors paired with classic dark-wood tables and and contemporary sofas and beds. All rooms and suites have large balconies with views out over the surrounding Aravalli Range. Flat-screen TVs, safes, minibars, and coffee- and tea-making facilities come standard. Bathrooms feature brown-and-gray marble and mosaic work. Bathrooms in Grand Suites have large outdoor and indoor showers. 

The Ananta offers an excellent selection of on-site features for families, couples, and business travelers. There's a gorgeous outdoor swimming pool with a shaded pavilion area and fountain features, with mountain views. The spa offers Balinese and Swedish massages along with scrubs and all sorts of Ayurvedic treatments. The bright fitness center has modern cardio and weight-training equipment. Yoga classes are available. 

Dining options include Ananta-Tara, a rooftop restaurant with gorgeous views of the surrounding mountainous scenery. Oasis is an all-day restaurant with Indian and international fare, which can also be ordered poolside. Guests can also order drinks at Float, a contemporary bar and snack lounge, or call room service. 

A kids' room features all sorts of toddler-size play structures, as well as a game room with ping pong, air hockey, foosball, and the traditional Indian game of carrom. There's also a large playground on the hotel's grassy grounds featuring colorful slide structures and lots of room to run around. One highlight is the sprawling mini-golf course (for a fee) surrounded by tropical foliage. 

The Ananta is positioned as a wedding venue, with lots of space for indoor and outdoor events, including a lovely amphitheater and lots of indoor conference/banquet space. Wi-Fi is free throughout the hotel and there's plenty of free on-site parking.
