Red Fox Hotel, Delhi Airport

The Red Fox is a mid-range airport hotel from the Lemontree chain with clean, bright interiors that have a bit more personality than the competition. The lobby is bright and modern, with funky art and lots of red accents found elsewhere in the property. The on-site restaurant has the same vibe, with black and red 1960s-style chairs and red hanging lamps. The hallways are done with clean marble floors, light-wood doors, and framed artwork. All in all, the vibe here is pretty straightforward, with most guests going to and coming from the airport, and as such it's not the kind of place with a major social atmosphere. Guests are primarily business travelers and people needing easy access to the nearby airport.

The Red Fox is located in the Aerocity Hospitality District, a hotel-dominated corporate area near the airport. There's not much to see or do in the immediate area. It's a 10-minute drive from Indira Gandhi International Airport. South Delhi sights, like the iconic Qutub Minar, take about 20 minutes to reach by car, while Humayun's Tomb and the Sufi shrine of Hazrat Nizamuddin are about 25 minutes away by cab. Expect drives of 45 minutes to an hour to reach attractions in the center of the city, such as Connaught Place. It will take a bit longer to reach Old Delhi, with its vibrant markets and endless hubbub. However, drive times in Delhi are fluid, as traffic here can be a beast (to put it lightly). 

The Red Fox offers three room types: Standard Rooms, Superior Rooms, and Executive Suites. Decor is consistent and contemporary throughout, with light-wood floors and furniture and red accent panels. A bit of funky, Cubist-inspired art hangs on the walls, and there's modern dark-vinyl bench seating or chairs as well. All units come with air-conditioning, flat-screen TVs, irons, safes, electric kettles, free Wi-Fi, and mini-fridges. There's not a huge difference between Standard and Superior Rooms beyond a few square feet of space, but the Executive Suites benefit from separate living and sleeping rooms plus a lot more space. Wheelchair accessible rooms are also available. Bathrooms are basic, with dark green marble paneling and walk-in showers. There's a decent amount of space around the sinks and limited toiletries are provided.

Amenities at the Red Fox are basic, but sufficient for a short stay -- which is all most guests are here on anyway. The restaurant, Clever Fox Cafe, offers Indian and international cuisine plus 24-hour room service. Food gets solid marks from previous guests. There's a fitness center that's bright and well-lit, with big windows and a mix of cardio and weight machines plus a rack of free weights. Other amenities include an internet room with scanner and five flat-screen computers and free basic Wi-Fi. High-speed Internet costs extra. There's also a conference room with a DVD player and seating for up to 80 people. Airport transfers are available on request, but a free airport shuttle isn't offered -- a bit surprising given the hotel's airport-hotel status.
