Bottom Line

Pearl Palace Heritage is a small budget boutique guest house located just down the road from the Jaipur Railway Station. Each of the 10 rooms here is individually decorated, with ornate (and some might say over-the-top), traditionally inspired decor and modern amenities including flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, and in-room personal computers with internet connectivity. However, there isn't much in terms of facilities beyond free Wi-Fi.  The hotel doesn't even have a restaurant, though room service is available from the sister property -- Hotel Pearl Palace -- which may be a better option for those looking for something with a bit more of a social scene. Fun fact, the "Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel" was partially shot here.

Scene

Ornately decorated budget hotel modeled after a traditional Rajasthani mansion

Housed in a five-story structure modeled after a traditional Rajasthani haveli, or city mansion, Pearl Palace Heritage is the quieter alternative to the nearby sister Hotel Pearl Palace, owned by the same family. The interiors here are ornately decorated, with inlaid marble on the floors and stairs and artwork worthy of a museum, including bas-relief sculptures along the walls and a mix of traditional wood-and-metal doors, lanterns, and archways. A fun fact: parts of the "Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel" were shot in the hotel, but rather than retirees, most of the guests here are younger travelers on a budget.

Location

Convenient location just south of M.I. Road, a short walk from the railway station and a quick drive to the Pink City

Pearl Palace Heritage is located just south of the main M.I. Road thoroughfare (where there are plenty of shops and restaurants). It's about a 10-minute walk or five-minute drive from the Jaipur Railway Station and about an eight-minute drive to the historic Pink City. Getting to the main Gangori Bazaar and its surrounding historic attractions, including the City Palace, the Hawa Mahal, and the Jantar Mantar takes about 12 minutes by car. The Albert Hall Museum and the Birla Mandir, both of which are south of the Pink City, also take around 12 minutes to reach by car. Factor in about a half-hour by car for Amber and its famous namesake fort. Masjid Airport is a 25-minute drive away from the hotel, traffic permitting.

Rooms

Individually decorated rooms with ornate, original decor, and lovely bathrooms with intricate tile work

The Pearl Palace Heritage offers nine different guest rooms, most of which sleep two guests on either king-size or queen-size beds (though there is a Viceroy Premium Room with two queen beds for up to four guests). Note that the hotel charges for extra guests, though extra beds can be arranged. Each room has its own individual decor scheme. The Nilamber Premium Room features a blue-and-white decor scheme with blue fluorescent recessed lighting. The sleek Kwabgah Premium Room, with its ornate silver bed frame and matching day bed and sconce-style light fixtures suspended from the ceiling. All rooms feature air-conditioning, personal computers with free Wi-Fi, safes, mini-fridges, and flat-screen TVs with satellite cable. Some rooms have private balconies. Bathrooms vary quite a bit, but all are lovely, with ornate tile work, stylish vessel sinks, and walk-in rainfall showers. Hairdryers are provided.

Features

Limited amenities include room service with extensive North Indian selection, area tours (for a fee), and free Wi-Fi

The Pearl Palace Heritage doesn't have much in terms of amenities. Room service is available from the hotel's sister property a couple of blocks away with a focus on rich North Indian breads, curries, and rice dishes. The hotel can also arrange tours and local activities, both in Jaipur and further afield in Rajasthan. Laundry services and airport transfers are available for a fee. Wi-Fi is free throughout the property.
