Bottom Line

Set in the West Delhi neighborhood of Rajendra Place, the Jaypee Siddharth is an upscale business hotel with 94 rooms and suites. It's right next to the Rajendra Place Metro station, making it a good option for those wanting to rely on public transportation to get around town, but tourists are still better off staying somewhere closer to the city center, such as the Park Hotel in Connaught Place. The rates are good and the rooms -- while a little generic -- are attractive enough, with traditional decor and marble bathrooms. However, the amenities are what really stand out here and include a lovely spa, a fitness center with cardio and weight-training equipment, a small pool, and lots of great restaurants -- one of which serves a massive menu around the clock.

Scene

Sleek business hotel with pleasant interiors

The Jaypee Siddharth looks out over a main thoroughfare and is one of the more eye-catching buildings in the neighborhood, with a tall red sandstone facade that towers above the mostly low-rise neighborhood. Inside, interiors are sharp and modern, and while the vibe is upscale, it's not over the top and has a classic elegance to it. Cream and tan marble floors cover the main lobby and an illuminated staircase leads up to an open mezzanine area with lots of seating and lobby views. Glass baubles hang from the ceiling and, along with a large blue-glass pillar that runs up the center of the room, add a slightly whimsical vibe what otherwise feels fairly buttoned-up. Most guests here are either business travelers or families with friends to visit in West Delhi, though the hotel's location right next to a metro stop makes it a viable, but not ideal, option for tourists wishing to visit the city's major sites via public transportation.

Location

In Rajendra Place, right next to a metro and a 10-minute drive to Connaught Place

The Jaypee Siddarth is located in Rajendra Place, a neighborhood in western Delhi, and the hotel sits right next to the metro station of the same name (and one metro stop away from the shops and restaurants in Karol Bagh). The area around the hotel is hectic, but not out of control by Delhi standards, as there's a pleasant market catering largely to those who live in the neighborhood just behind the hotel, with a smattering of local restaurants, gift shops, pharmacies and banks. A 10-minute walk down Shankar Road leads to more restaurants, shops, and cafes. It's a 10-minute drive or 15-minute metro ride to Connaught Place, which is packed with upmarket dining and shopping. Jantar Mantar, a collection of ancient astronomical instruments, sits just off of Connaught Place as well. Expect a 20-minute drive to Gurudwara Bangla Sahib, Delhi's best-known Sikh temple. The sprawling Lodhi Gardens, full of Lodhi-era tombs and meandering paths, is around a 25-minute drive away. Humayan's Tomb, one of the city's three UNESCO World Heritage Sites, is also about 25 minutes to half an hour away by car, as is Old Delhi's Chandni Chowk -- with its collection of local markets specializing in bridal wear and jewelry. Expect a 45-minute drive to Qutub Minar in South Delhi. Indira Gandhi International Airport is about 20 minutes away by car without traffic, but can take significantly longer to reach during peak hours.

Rooms

Pleasant, classically decorated rooms with marble bathrooms

Color schemes are neutral, with primarily off-white, beige, and brown interiors livened up with reds or fuchsias in bed runners and other soft furnishings. All are centrally air-conditioned and features safes, mini-fridges, flat-screen TVs, tea- and coffee-making facilities, and slippers/bathrobes. Free Wi-Fi is also included. Rooms come with two twin or double beds, or a king beds. Features

Multiple dining options, lovely spa, modern fitness center, pool, and free hotel-wide Wi-Fi

Despite its relatively small size when compared to more central, high-end hotels, this property has a nice amount of features on-site. Eggspectation is the best known of the restaurants and serves all sorts of food (the hotel claims to have some 170 menu items) 24 hours a day, with live music on some evenings. Paatra specializes in north Indian food and offers a buffet option at lunch for those who want to sample lots of different items. There's also a bar -- Tapas -- with all sorts of cocktails and snacks, plus a bakery serving pastries and tarts that opens early and stays open until late. Room service is available 24 hours a day.The wellness center -- Tamaya -- is another major highlight, and offers all sorts of treatments ranging from Moroccan body wraps to traditional massages along with facials, hairstyling, and mani/pedis. There's also a fitness center with plenty of modern cardio and weight-training machines plus free weights. The outdoor pool is on the small side of things, but is fine to cool off in Delhi's heat and has lounge chair seating. Other features include free hotel-wide Wi-Fi and concierge services -- a currency exchange is available through the front desk, and the hotel can even arrange for traditional Indian astrology (Jyotish) consultations.
