Heritage Village Resort & Spa Goa

Heritage Village Club Goa is a lovely resort hotel that's particularly popular with British package tourists looking for a fly-and-flop vacation. Indian families also stay here to take advantage of the hotel's kid-friendly amenities. The architecture of this property draws inspiration from Goan-Colonial architecture, with beautiful whitewashed facades crowned with red terra-cotta tile roofs. The lobby is similarly colonial, with Portuguese-style tiled floors, Art Deco-style stained glass windows, and simple wrought-iron chandeliers. The rest of the property is situated in a U shape around a courtyard pool, with lovely green fields in the background. The grounds are beautiful, with brick pathways and lots of greenery, plus a few white plaster statues that make for an atmospheric touch. 

This hotel is located in the town of Cansaulim, in the northern stretches of South Goa and about a three-minute walk from Arossim Beach. The street it's located on is quiet and tucked away, without much of interest within walking distance (there are just a few residences in the surrounding area). The town of Cansaulim takes five minutes to reach by car or about 15 minutes on foot. It's only about a 25-minute drive to the airport in Vasco de Gama. Getting to the Goan capital city, Panaji, takes upwards of 40 minutes in the car. 

This property offers four types of units: Superior Rooms, large Design Rooms, larger Grande Club Rooms, and a couple of Suites. All have a similar look and feel, with high ceilings, soft lighting, and simple wood furniture and mustard-colored throw cushions and bed runners. Standard amenities include air-conditioning, safes, and coffee- and tea-making facilities. Wi-Fi is available for a fee. Superior Rooms have tube-style TVs with cable, but all other categories upgrade to flat-screen TVs, along with extra amenities such as sofas that can accommodate children and slippers. Club Rooms and Suites add minibars. Bathrooms across categories have walk-in showers, hairdryers, and basic toiletries. Furnished balconies are a nice touch -- those in Club Rooms face out on the garden.

This hotel has tons of great on-site amenities, making it a good choice for those who don't feel the need to do much exploring. Dining options include a main buffet restaurant, Chutney, with simple food. Casa Rosa offers a la carte snacks and indoor and outdoor seating. Forrest - The Resto Bar, serves drinks and a la carte dishes. The outdoor Mango Terrace serves seafood and Goan specialties in a romantic dinnertime setting. Room service is available, but it's not 24/7.

The swimming pool is gargantuan by Goan standards, with plenty of lounge chairs on the surrounding lawns, plus an elevated kids' pool. For those who prefer swimming in ocean water, the hotel can arrange water sports such as Jet Skiing and banana boats. Land-based activities include cycling on one of the hotel's loaner bikes, playing tennis on the outdoor tennis court, or exercising at the small but functional fitness center, where there's a treadmill, an exercise bike, and  free weights. The hotel also features a Auyra Spa, with traditional Ayurvedic treatments such as massages and herb-infused steam baths along with beauty services and henna. There's a recreation room with table tennis, billiards, and a lending library stacked with books, toys, and kid-friendly board games. Unusual for a Goan hotel, this property also offers lots of resort-style entertainment for kids and adults, offering everything from karaoke to towel-folding classes.

Other facilities include a large shopping arcade in a separate building with souvenirs, jewelry, and eyeglasses for sale. There's a small business center with a computer for those who need to print boarding passes. Wi-Fi is available throughout the hotel, but it's not included in room rates. Secure parking behind the hotel's guarded main gate is free -- and there's lots of it.
