Bottom Line

The Red Hotel by Ibiza Feeling is a two-pearl property popular for its affordable prices and central location in San Antonio. The bus station, harbor, restaurants, and two of the areas most hyped clubs, Eden and Es Paradise, are all under a five-minute walk from the hotel. It's 40 low-frills, albeit contemporary, rooms have minimal decor, beds receiving mixed reviews, AC, and flat-screen TVs, plus some have balconies with sea views. Unfortunately no mini-fridges or kettles are provided, and safes require a fee. A cafe serving cheap meals and free Wi-Fi round out amenities. Thin walls can lead to noise in summer's high season and there is a zero-tolerance policy on bringing non-guests into the property. Compare rates with the nearby Hostal Tarba, which has budget rooms, free breakfast, and a pool.

Scene

Affordable hotel with a great location that draws partiers in the summer months

Built in the 1970s, the property goes through updates each year while it is closed for winter. In 2016, The Red Hotel updated the decor and space of the attached cafe, while previous years saw a more contemporary, minimalistic look created in the lobby area, plus the addition of tablet Wi-Fi stations and a larger luggage storage area. While not rundown, the hotel certainly has that well-worn feeling often found in budget properties that consistently operate at high capacity. The white-tile floors squeak at points, and the furniture equally reflects concern for style and wear and tear. During summer months, the hotel is a favorite among mostly young clubbing guests and can be loud between the thin walls. Low season (September to April) sees less noise, more families, and a generally less-intense vibe. This property is open May through November. For those looking for a similar price point and style, it’s worth checking out rates at the Hostal Tarba just down the street, where extras include a free breakfast buffet and on-site pool.

Location

Across from the San Antonio harbor and close to clubs, restaurants, and transportation

One of this hotel's main draws is its superb location at the San Antonio village entrance. This area is one of Ibiza's notorious party zones, though families can be found here and there. In the area immediately surrounding the hotel, there are a plethora of shops, eateries, bars, and a few pieces of street art. The San Antonio harbor and a small public playground are just across the main road and there's a small convenience store right across from the front of the hotel. The bus station is located just behind the hotel around the corner and makes stops around the island.- Four-minute walk to Eden and Es Paradise

  • Five-minute walk to San Antonio ferry port
  • 12-minute drive to Ushuaia, Privilege, and Amnesia nightclubs
  • 25-minute drive to Talamanca
  • 25-minute drive to Ibiza Airport
  • 28-minute drive to Playa D'en Bossa
  • 30-minute drive to Ibiza Golf Course
  • 35-minute drive to Santa Eulalia Beach
  • 35-minute drive to Es Cavallet Beach
  • 36-minute drive to Dalt Vila

Rooms

Basic rooms with contemporary, minimalistic style

The 40 rooms here are basic, with no-frills furniture and decor of predominately white and solid red. Some beds have motel-patterned bedspreads, while others feel slightly more updated with red stripes. Walls are thin and noise can be an issue. Solo travelers will find snug Single Rooms that may or may not have a balcony, while Double Rooms are just big enough for two and have sea-view options that face over the marina. Located on the corners facing the sea, the Panoramic Twin rooms are by far the roomiest, with three single beds and 30-foot wraparound balconies that give spectacular sea and harbor views starting from the third floor. Extra perks for these units include small mini-fridges and gray vinyl daybeds. Starting in 2017, guests staying on the sixth floor can expect real king-sized beds (others have singles pushed together) and hairdryers in the bathrooms. All rooms have AC, flat-screen TVs, and shower/tub combos, but they lack mini-fridges and kettles. Safes require a fee.

Features

Affordable attached cafe and off-site pool at a neighboring hotel

On-site features at this budget property are slim, with the clear standout being the attached Red Cafe. Located off the lobby, this casual and bright spot serves up ultra-affordable breakfast, lunch, and dinner dishes that include full English breakfasts, pizzas, sandwiches, and gluten-free and vegetarian options. The space was revamped in late 2016 and features budget-contemporary decor, piped music, a large flat-screen TV, and indoor, terrace, and sidewalk seating. While the hotel doesn’t have its own pool, it has an agreement with a neighboring property (Llevant Terrace) that allows Red Hotel guests to use the pool, as long as drinks or food are purchased from the bar. There’s also a hotel-owned convenience market across the road that’s open 24 hours during summer. A 24-hour reception desk, ATM, and elevator area available. The lobby also has a row of tablets where guests can hook up to the internet for free. Expect free Wi-Fi and a no-pet policy. It’s important to note that there’s a strict no-outside-guests policy at this property, and it is strictly enforced.
