The adult-only Sol Beach House Ibiza is an upscale, pet-friendly property with a beautiful location on the Santa Eulalia marina. It's walking distance to the village, and largely draws couples from their 30s to 50s. The 237 bright and contemporary rooms balance light tones with colorful Desigual decor, comfy Pikolin beds, and furnished balconies, but touchy AC, unreliable housekeeping, and compact spaces best suited for shorter stays are downsides. Upgrades come packed with extras. Designed as a healthy hideaway, guests have healthy food and beverage options, free group exercise classes, massages, and full wellness programs. Notable features include two sea-view pools, two bars, and three restaurants, plus free buffet breakfasts and half-board options. There are also free bicycles, parking, and Wi-Fi. For a similar vibe but with a sandy beach, check out sister property Sol House Ibiza across the island.
Scene
Bright and relaxing adult-only hotel with chic decor and open spaces
Sol Beach House Ibiza has a Boho-chic vibe with a relaxed and stylish beachy look. A wide set of stairs adorned with baskets and candles lead up to colorful Mexican blankets and pillows laid out as a lounge space just before the entrance. As guests walk through the sliding glass doors, they are greeted with a large open lobby full of contemporary, cushioned white wicker furniture, painted crates, thin white curtains, and smooth light wood laminate floors. Infused water jugs, colorful hanging painted pottery lights, a black piano, and a large glass atrium stick out. Partnered with Desigual, guests can spot the brand's colorful patterns throughout the hotel: in the room decor, bathrobes, and slippers; splashing color in public spaces; and on employee uniforms. Hallways are filled with seating, natural light, white walls, and statues painted a glossy turquoise. Outside, an open-plan deck leads out past the lobby bar, splits between a sunny cushioned lounge space and the pool areas, heads toward the outdoor bars and restaurants, wraps around the garden and back toward the hotel. The outdoor space is extensive and helps fuel the wellness-retreat vibe this property strives for, however, service and overall cleanliness maintains mixed reviews (during our stay, we noticed wear and tear in the rooms, but no dirty public spaces or problems with housekeeping).
Location
Quiet beachfront location within walking distance of Santa Eulalia village
Sol Beach House Ibiza has a seafront location along the Santa Eulalia marina. Unfortunately, there is no beach here as the coast is mostly rocky, though guests can access the water by climbing down the rocks. The hotel is quiet and tucked down the end of a street next to the Congress Building, but it's walking distance to a few nearby hotel restaurants, the village center, and a large Mercandona supermarket. Overall, this northeastern area is a quiet favorite among older guests and families who come to Ibiza to relax. - Six-minute drive or 16-minute walk to Santa Eulalia village
Rooms
Stylish rooms with Desigual Living decor, Pikolin beds, and touchy AC
Sol Beach House has teamed up with Desigual Living to add pops of patterned color to the pillows, bathrobes, and slippers in rooms. The rest of the rooms maintain a bright look with rustic-chic light-wood furniture, wood floors, and white walls. All 282 modernrooms have comfy Pikolin beds, mini-fridges or minibars, 42-inch flat-screen TVs with satellite channels and radio, yoga mats, and furnished balconies. Bathrooms are contemporary, spacious, and feature walk-in showers with wall pump shampoo and shower gel, plus hair and vanity kits. Sol Beach House rooms are small, albeit spacious enough for a short stay, and only come with the baseline amenities and no sea views. To get a glimpse of the sea, upgrade to a Beach House Front Sea View, which also comes with sofa seating areas. However, it's worth checking rates against the Xtra Beach House, since these rooms come with extra perks and amenities like bathrobes, in-room pool towels, kettles, and Nespresso machines, and freebies that range from a stocked welcome minibar to beach totes. Junior suites have all this plus separate bedrooms and living spaces with futon converter sofas and small dining tables, while the Xtra Beach House Suites have soaking tubs, open bathrooms, and reserved pool beds. Huge master suites are the cream of the crop with apartment-style layouts and impressive 270-square-foot terraces with whirlpools, exercise bikes, and lounge seating. These rooms also come with dinner for two, welcome drinks, and reserved space by the pool. All rooms have sensor-powered AC that can be problematic, as it quickly turns off when there is no movement in the room. Single female travelers have also found the lack of interior locks off-putting.
Features
Health-centered features and two seafront pools, but no beach
Sol Beach House centers its features around wellness and relaxation. The hotel runs free pilates and yoga classes in a palapa overlooking the sea, and it has healthy alternatives and menus marked with dietary restrictions at its a la carte Latin-inspired eatery, Sol Shack Chiringuito. Additionally, a smallish gym has modern Technogym machines and TRX capabilities. Massages are also available for an extra fee. The Kitchen is the main buffet restaurant where guests grab their free breakfast buffet and half-board dinners. The buffet is large, average, and focuses on Mediterranean cuisine. The lobby Ginger bar is small but has both indoor and outdoor stool seating, and serves up creative cocktails alongside healthy juices. The outdoor pool area is large and consists of two pools with large, multi-level decks with cushioned lounge areas, loungers, a pool bar, and a reserved VIP deck overlooking the pool with lounge pods, umbrellas, and two loungers per suite. The area is spacious, breathable, and verdant. Though the hotel isn't directly on the water (it's a rocky coastline in this area), guests can wade through the shrubs and follow a path down the rocks to the water. In addition to midnight beach swims, the hotel has a few organized activities like live music, craft markets, and sunset DJ sets. Guests can also use the free beach cruiser bikes out front. Additional features include a business computer and beach apparel shop. A rooftop bar and pool atop the annex building is reportedly coming in 2018.
