The 250-room Serenis Hotel Goleta & Spa is located on a small sandy beach near some of Ibiza’s top nightclubs. With a great spa with a heated pool, tennis courts, a well-equipped fitness center, an outdoor pool, and a buffet restaurant serving Spanish and international fare, this upper-middle-range property offers plenty on-site. Most rooms have been renovated in a modern style with splashes of color, and include balconies, flat-screen TVs with satellite channels, mini-fridges, hydromassage showers, air-conditioning, and free Wi-Fi. Next-door sister property Sirenis Tres Carabelas offers similar amenities and all-inclusive meal plans, but more rooms are updated here, and it doesn’t get quite as loud as its neighbor.
Scene
A laid-back beachfront property near Ibiza's trendiest nightlife
The Sirenis Hotel Goleta & Spa has begun to show its age in places. Although rooms got major upgrades in the mid 2010s and have an appealingly fresh modern decor, some of the common areas have a funky mix of old and new. Staid marble floors and columns in the lobby clash with new bright-colored furniture, a stylish bar, and ceiling moldings with LED lights in different hues. The hotel’s sister property, Sirenis Hotel Club Tres Carabelas & Spa, is adjacent, and some of the facilities of the two properties are shared, including the pools and the spa. The two hotels are similar, but the Goleta is more upscale, with nicer rooms and a somewhat quieter vibe. Although the Goleta does have a kids' pool and a playground, it draws more couples than families, and does not have the all-inclusive rates of Tres Carabelas.
Location
On Playa d’en Bossa, near world-class nightclubs
The hotel is located between a small stretch of sand part of Playa d’en Bossa -- Ibiza’s longest beach -- and a wide street lined with hotels. There are a few restaurants, bars, and shops nearby, and another longer beach down the street. Ibiza’s most famous clubs -- including Ushuaïa, Bora Bora, and Space -- are within a 20-minute walk from the hotel, and the airport is within a 10-minute drive. The town of Ibiza is a five- to 10-minute cab ride away, and there is also a ferry landing a couple of minutes from the hotel where guests can get boats to Formentera, as well as to Ibiza and other parts of the island.
Rooms
Fresh, modern rooms in a range of sizes
The hotel offers a wide array of room types, including Singles, Doubles, Junior Suites, and Suites. All are large and bright, and all but Single Rooms have balconies, most of which offer at least a partial view of the Mediterranean. Most rooms have been renovated and have a modern style, with bright-bed runners and matching pillows, dark armchairs, wooden furniture, and bathrooms with hydromassage showers. The few unrenovated rooms are plain and dated, with thin, blue bedspreads, and unstylish wooden furniture. Premium Rooms have full ocean views, jetted tubs in the bedroom overlooking the sea, and plusher bathrooms with double glass sinks, heated towel racks, separate jetted tubs, and showers with hydromassage features. All rooms are air-conditioned, and include flat-screen TVs with satellite channels, air-conditioning, mini-fridges, and free Wi-Fi. Play Station 3s and DVD players are available on request, but the hotel does not provide games or movies.
Features
A pool, buffet restaurant and bar, spa, fitness center, and tennis courts
The Goleta offers direct access to a small stretch of sand with no shade but for a few palm trees. There’s also a pool with plenty of loungers, and a bar serving drinks and snacks, such as hot dogs, burgers, chips, and ice cream. For larger meals, the main restaurant serves a good buffet of Spanish and international cuisine. The fitness center has cardio and strength-training machines, there are several tennis and paddle courts, and four fully equipped meeting rooms on the property. All guests get free access to the spa, complete with a hydrotherapy area, salon services, massage cabins, and a large heated indoor pool. Child-friendly amenities include a kids' pool and a playground. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the property. Next-door sister property Sirenis Hotel Club Tres Carabelas offers Goleta guests free access to its facilities.
