The 257-room Invisa Hotel Club Cala Verde is popular with families and couples looking for a mid-range resort that doesn't sacrifice on views or beach area. All rooms have fresh and contemporary styles and come standard with minibars, AC, terraces, and modern bathrooms. The pirate-themed water park and multi-age kids' clubs are favorites among families, and the hotel's reciprocal privileges with larger sister property Cala Blanca next door makes the resort feel twice as big. On-site features include a large pool deck overlooking the ocean, beach access, planned activities and themed nightly entertainment, and two buffet-style restaurants. For easier access to the adult-only areas, check rates at the Invisa Hotel Club Cala Blanca.
Scene
Solid hotel popular with families and offering more intimate vibe than sister property
Invisa Hotel Club Verde was bought in 1988 and given a facelift in 1994. As of our visit, the rooms had been renovated in 2017, and upgrades to the lobby's dated terra-cotta tile and wicker furniture with tired yellow patterned cushions are slated for sometime in 2018. The smaller size and warm color palette give Cala Verde a more intimate feel than sister property Cala Blanca. And while Blanca has some modern touches in the public spaces, Cala Verde feels less stylish and more dated despite continual soft upgrades. This optional all-inclusive is a basic property that should benefit from the planned 2018 renovations and upgrades. Those familiar with its nearby sister property Invisa Hotel Club Cala Blanca (where guests will also have reciprocal access), will find the Cala Verde less stylish and less expansive. It's a good option for guests who are looking for a simple spot in a quiet area of the island. Cala Verde's mountainside location gives beautiful views of Es Figueral beach, green mountainside, and a few surrounding islands.
Location
Quiet, remote location in the northeastern part of the island with great island views
Invisa Hotel Club Cala Verde is located on the northeastern tip of the island with its back to the coast of Es Figueral Beach. This is not a heavily touristed area, so those wanting to leave and explore the island should expect to spend money on renting a car or a cab. There's nothing really within walking distance except the resorts sister property. - 17-minute drive to Santa Eulalia
Rooms
2017-updated rooms and suites with outdoor space and modern bathrooms
Club Cala Verde has 257 rooms that have all been converted into Premium-level rooms, replacing unattractive dated decor with contemporary and serene style. Rooms have a fresh look with a soft or bold beach color palette full of turquoise, tans, and whites. Rooms have wood laminate floors and bathrooms have modern brown and off-white tiles. Premium Premium Rooms have an even more contemporary look with panoramic picture murals, different floors, and less basic-looking pullout sofas. These rooms also have LED speaker systems, slippers, and magnifying mirrors. The Grand Junior Suite Panoramic rooms are some of the best in the hotel and feature large terraces with both covered and uncovered sections and a variety of cushioned wicker furniture. These also have bathrobes and two TVs. All rooms have AC, outdoor spaces with plastic furniture, kettles, minibars, and flat-screen TVs with satellite channels. Bathrooms have either shower/tub combos or walk-in showers. Wi-Fi is available in rooms for hotel members.
Family
Water playground, kids' clubs, and sports
Ask any family what their kid's favorite part of Cala Verde was and they will likely say the water park. The Pirate Island is a standout and family-favorite feature that is essentially a nearly life-sized plastic pirate boat with waterslides, jets, and obstacle areas. Smaller kids have an ankle-deep area with bright plastic animal sculptures that spit water, and there are plenty of loungers nearby. This area also has its own snack bar with basic treats like ice cream and soda. Next to the water park are the two kids' club areas. The kids' clubs only operate during certain hours of the day, and children must be registered and collected and picked up at a specific meeting point each day. Kids under 3 must be potty trained or parents have to accompany them. The grade school kids' club area is called Invilandia. Special touches like counselors dressed in character, a clown horn doorbell, and the climbable outdoor playground make this program particularly attractive. The Junior and Teen Clubs run in summer months and include a fun ropes course.
Beach
Beautiful beach with a natural feel and sunbeds for rent
The hotel is set on the fine sands of Es Figueral beach with beautiful views out onto the water. Guests can access the beach down a slightly hidden, but safe, path off the pool area. Since the surrounding area is less developed than the southern parts of the island, the beach area has views of green-topped hills and small mountains. This natural element gives a relaxing vibe and secluded feel. There are sunbeds for rent by a third party, as well as a few kayaks and other water activities.
Pool
Bustling and large pool area with gorgeous views over the Mediterranean
The main pool here is a lively spot with a family pool, kiddy pool, and a baby pool built into the same deck that dramatically overlooks the mountainside and Mediterranean. The tile is dated but in good condition and several blue and white stretched vinyl loungers rim the edges and sit in rows on the solarium deck. There's also a large stage where most of the hotel's activities like exercise classes and pool games take place. A bar off the pool serves drinks, but no food, and a few dated vending machines with nearing-vintage bobbles of tiny toys is nearby. Table games and pool toys are available off the pool deck. Guests also have access to the four pools -- an outdoor family pool, indoor/outdoor family pool, quiet adult-only pool, and a main pool, plus two kids' pools over at Club Cala Blanca.
Features
Good selection of average features in various states of datedness
In addition to the pool area, there's an outdoor, aboveground whirlpool area that was dirty during our visit. This narrow strip is on the edge of the property, giving way to great views. It's also home to an open-air fitness area with dated machines. Guests that want an escape from the bustle of the main pool deck can escape to a quiet solarium area that sports upgraded loungers and beautiful sea views. This is an all-inclusive hotel and most folks eat all three meals at the mediocre main buffet restaurant. The vibe is casual and guests have the option of sitting out on a large, covered terrace overlooking the water or sitting inside with easier access to the self-serve drink machines that dole out unlimited wine, beer, and soft drinks. Expect themed nights with live cooking stations, an excellent variety of salad ingredients, and a hot, cold, and dessert station. La Brasserie restaurant is a seasonal spot located a few steps down from the buffet. This open-air buffet requires reservations and serves up grilled meats, pizza, and pasta. Guests can also make reservations for the upper restaurant buffet at Cala Blanca. There are several meal plans at the hotel, from breakfast-only to all-inclusive; unlimited drinks are free at every meal. Cala Verde has an indoor theater area with limited views and a mashup of various types of chairs. The entertainment program rotates every two weeks between hotels and is a mix of professionals and hotel staff. For a purely professional show, there's a small TV room off the lobby with a row of chairs. Guests also have reciprocal access to the features at Cala Blanca, though it is a 10-minute walk away.
