Bottom Line

The 217-room Torre del Mar sits directly on a sandy beach in northern Playa d’en Bossa. This upscale property includes two indoor pools, an outdoor pool, a tennis court, fitness center, small spa, two restaurants, a lounge bar, meeting and event space, and hip, sleek rooms with furnished balconies. A quiet and relaxing vibe pervades here, but Torre del Mar is close enough to the action -- including some of Ibiza’s top nightclubs -- to make it a solid pick for travelers who want to experience the island’s famous nightlife.

Hotel Torre Del Mar

Scene

A quiet hotel with hip rooms and a relaxing ambience

In quiet northern Playa d’en Bossa -- an area known for being home to some of Ibiza’s most famous nightclubs -- sits hip Hotel Torre del Mar. It may not be as hopping or party-oriented as Ushuaïa or the Hard Rock Ibiza, but it offers a good alternative for those who want to party at night and relax by the pool or on the beach during the day.

Decor is modern, with a gray, purple, and white theme throughout. The lobby is sleek and appealing, with strategically placed purple lighting; gray and purple couches; light-gray floors, and black accents over white surfaces. An area with beige and fuchsia couches, and shelves with plants and books provides a cozy spot where guests can gather in front of the TV. Rooms have a futuristic vibe (without being overdone), with lots of white, purple, and metallic colors.

Stone paths wind through fountains and manicured lawns with palm trees and loungers full of guests soaking up the sun. The outdoor pool is circular and not huge but is pleasant and relaxing, and overlooks the ocean. In the middle of the pool is the small ancient tower that gives the hotel its name ("tower of the sea"); it can be reached via a path made of round platforms placed directly on the water.

Ibiza’s most famous clubs -- including Ushuaïa, Bora Bora, and Space -- are within a 20-minute walk from the hotel, and the airport is within a 10-minute drive. The town of Ibiza is a five- to 10-minute cab ride away, and a ferry landing is within a few minutes of the hotel, where guests can get a boat to Formentera.
