Hotel Argos is a 106-room, upper-middle-range property set overlooking a sandy beach on the western end of Talamanca Bay. While the immediate area is relatively serene, it's just a short stroll to plenty of bars and restaurants, as well as the buzzing party area. Renovations in 2016 gave the rooms a contemporary, white-filled design, plus they all have furnished balconies -- the majority featuring sea views. A choice of indoor and outdoor pools are welcome amenities, as is direct beach access -- though expect some seaweed. All in all, it's a good balance of setting and facilities, although to be closer to the action travelers might want to consider Sirenis Hotel Club Tres Carabelas & Spa.
Scene
Relaxed hotel with outdoor seating overlooking a sandy beach
While Hotel Argos's five-story, '70s-style building with rooftop signage and powder-blue balconies is uninspiring, the facade is surrounded by lush foliage and tropical flora. Stepping inside, floor-to-ceiling windows make for a bright and open lobby area, complete with large potted plants and polished blue marble. Stairs and an elevator are directly adjacent to the reception desk, and lead up to the rooms and dark carpeted hallways (both of which benefitted from 2016 renovations). The hotel's relaxing beachfront setting overlooking the bay is a highlight, and there's direct access to the beach with a few loungers on the sand. Additionally, there's a veranda with outdoor seating overlooking the water, plus sea views are available at the raised pool area enclosed by a glass wall -- this provides shelter from the wind but can also make the area humid at times. The hotel attracts mostly couples of all ages, plus a few families and younger groups looking to enjoy the famous Ibiza nightlife.
Location
Peaceful setting at the end of Talamanca Bay, a short stroll from the marina
The hotel is located at the end of the sweeping white sands of Talamanca Bay -- a peaceful, family-friendly beach within walking distance of Ibiza's vibrant nightlife. A pleasant four-minute walk along the seafront promenade leads to the marina and its spectacular yachts, shops, bars, and restaurants, while Ibiza's most famous nightclub, Pacha, is only 12 minutes away on foot. The ancient gates to Ibiza Old Town are a seven-minute drive from the hotel or a short ferry ride from the marina, while Ibiza Airport is a 10- to 15-minute drive.
Rooms
Fresh, contemporary rooms all have balconies -- most with sea views
The 106 rooms are bright and airy with light wood floors and clean, contemporary styling -- all white with a splash of color in the form of cushions and matching bed throws. Framed black-and-white landscape prints also add a bit of personality. All rooms open to furnished balconies and most have sea views, but some look over the street and parking lot. While the street-view rooms can be noisier, they do have sunset views. Rooms on the ground floor or directly above the breakfast room can also be noisy. Wi-Fi is free of charge and all rooms have flat-screen TVs, air-conditioning, safes, and minibars. Modern bathrooms have colored mosaic tiling, most with showers/ tub combos, though some have walk-in showers; all provide robes, slippers, and toiletries.
Features
Pool area with kids' pool and whirlpool tub, plus a restaurant
Most activity at Hotel Argos is centered around the facilities outdoors. The sun terrace has a swimming pool lined with loungers, a whirlpool tub, and a separate pool for kids', as well as a surrounding glass partition to cut down on the breeze. Guests can also find a small heated pool in the basement, together with another whirlpool and a small gym. The sandy beach has a couple rows of loungers and some daybeds, though seaweed can be an issue. A meeting space is also available for travelers. The hotel's colorful restaurant serves a hot and cold buffet breakfast (not included as standard), as well as a buffet dinner service in the evening. A bar extends to an outdoor area with a ping-pong table, where snacks and drinks are available.
