Scene

A young party hostel with a relaxing pool and simple, sleek common areas

Florencio Hostal is housed in a nondescript white building in central Sant Antoni, a town in northern Ibiza known for its nightlife. The property is undergoing renovations in several stages, and has a mix of hip, modern features, and a few dated ones. The lobby is one of the spaces that has had a facelift, and has contemporary decor in a bright yellow and black palette. Laminate floors, a couple of music-themed paintings, black couches, and funky lamps with hanging bulbs and chains make the lobby fun and appealing, while armchairs with purple velvet upholstering, and ornate metal mirrors are glam accents. The cafe, a casual spot for a quick bite, is off the lobby and has sidewalk seating and fresh, modern decor that combines mid-tone wood, clean white, and bright pops of orange. Guests here are mostly young partiers and groups of friends, and although it can get loud at night sometimes, during the day the vibe is relaxing and fun, especially around the pool area. Families are permitted but those with young children may feel out of place.

Location

Within walking distance of the beach and the West End

Florencio Hostal is located on a small street lined with bars, restaurants, and shops. The famous West End, chock-full of popular bars and clubs, is a five-minute walk away, and the beach can be reached on foot in less than 10 minutes. Although central, this location is a few blocks from the main nightlife area and is therefore quieter than areas west of it. Sant Antoni is relatively small and most services are within an easy walk, including the main bus station, which is five minutes away on foot and convenient for those looking to explore other beaches and towns. Ibiza Town and the airport are both about a 25-minute drive from the property.

Rooms

Some rooms have contemporary decor, and others are basic and dated.

Florencio Hostal has 100 Standard and Premium Rooms, some with furnished balconies, and a few overlooking a small light shaft. The renovated Premium units have a fresh, contemporary feel with modern white decor, laminate floors, and appealing bathrooms with walk-in showers, colorful mosaic tiling, and new fixtures. Most Standard Rooms have already received fresh coats of yellow paint, but bathrooms are yet to be updated and have older shower/tub combos, and the dark brown furniture and thin beige bedspreads make for basic, uninspired decor. These Standard units are also a little barebones, with only air-conditioning, flat-screen TVs, and basic toiletries in the way of amenities. All rooms, however, have free Wi-Fi. Additionally, Premium Rooms offer plasma TVs, mini-fridges, and safes. Rooms also have nice touches on the walls, such as brightly colored oil paintings and charming wood-framed mirrors.

Features

A pleasant pool with a good atmosphere; a casual cafe; free Wi-Fi, and bike rentals

The best feature at Florencio Hostal is the pool area, an appealing sun-trap for a chilled morning after a long night out. There are two water features, and a few tables and chairs where guests can enjoy drinks and snacks from the poolside bar. Additionally, padded loungers and a couple of Bali beds are available on a deck a flight of stairs above the pool. The on-site restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and serves Spanish and British food at decent prices in a cute space off the lobby. The hotel also has a laundromat with coin-operated washers and dryers, and a bike store offering bike rentals and guided bike tours (fees apply). Free Wi-Fi is available throughout.
