This 170-room budget hotel is well-suited for travelers who are looking for an all-inclusive hotel with minimal frills. Hotel Club Els Pins' has a waterfront location, about a 15-minute drive or water taxi to San Antonio's restaurant and nightlife hub. Rooms are comfortably sized and all have a furnished balcony or terrace, but the lack of modern amenities and occasional maintenance issues might cause travelers to look elsewhere. Guests will find an outdoor pool, kiddy pool, and sports facilities, but the buffet restaurant serves mediocre food. Travelers should consider the mid-range Fiesta Hotel Tanit, another all-inclusive with more contemporary rooms and a well-reviewed eatery. This property is undergoing a multi-million dollar renovation set to be complete in March 2018. We will update our photos and review as soon as we can to reflect those changes.
Scene
A budget-friendly hotel in need of updates and maintenance
The Hotel Club Els Pins was built in 1964 and it shows. The hotel outwardly appears run-down, as evidenced by a couple of loose letters on the facade and paint in need of touching up. Despite a partial renovation in 2005, the property still feels outdated. While the marble-accented reception area and large works of art are pleasant, the lobby also has dirty, worn blue couches and cheap-looking fake flower arrangements. Though there's a tiny shallow pool for children and a kids' club, kids and adults alike tend to congregate around the pool when on-site. Overall, this hotel caters to travelers on a budget looking to spend most of their time in Ibiza outside of the hotel.
Location
On the bay, a short distance from San Antonio's famous party spots
Situated on the bay, guests of Hotel Club Els Pins will have easy access to the waterfront and a small rocky beach. The more expansive and attractive Port des Torrent beach is an 8-minute drive from the hotel, or there are other beaches within a 10-minute walk. Being on the water, proximity and accessibility of water taxis is high here, so navigating around Ibiza and to San Antonio is rather easy. By car, San Antonio and its numerous restaurants and nightlife spots are a 14-minute drive away. Some of the popular party spots are within walking distance, including On The Rocks Ibiza (4-minute walk away), and Kumharas and Ocean Beach Ibiza (15-minute walks). Additionally, Es Paradis is a 27-minute walk, while Eden Ibiza is only a slightly longer walk at 28 minutes.
Rooms
Bright rooms with just the bare necessities
Though minimally furnished, the rooms throughout Hotel Club Els Pins are relatively spacious and well-kept. Rooms could certainly use a revamp, as they're outfitted with light-wood furniture, beige walls, and patterned bedding and curtains that are a bit dated and lackluster. Additionally, there have been reports of maintenance issues and the tube-style TVs are temperamental and reception can be dodgy. Past guests have complained of poor air-conditioning as well. In lieu of a dresser, all rooms have closets with shelves and hangers provided. Rooms also have furnished balconies or terraces, though only some rooms have water views. Most memorable is, undoubtedly, the appearance of the bathrooms -- which varies a bit depending on the room. Updated rooms on the third and fourth floor have a hodgepodge of colored wall tiles and a mismatched granite sink slab, while older rooms have loud, patterned, floor-to-ceiling tiles. Across the board they have shower/tub combos and small samples of bath products, but no hairdryers.
Features
Outdoor pool, dilapidated sports facilities, and mediocre food
Like most hotels in the area, Hotel Club Els Pins comes with a pool for guests to use. The pool deck is relatively well-maintained with dozens of loungers, and there is also a smaller, more shallow pool on the property that would be suitable for young children. Showers are located on the pool deck but are in poor condition -- they're missing floor tiles and, ironically, are quite dirty. Though not actually a beach, there are loungers atop a mix of concrete slabs and small sandy areas along the water.Outdoor games include ping pong tables, a tennis court, and mini-golf, but all appear in need of some maintenance. The kids' club is similarly shabby, with a dilapidated swing set and playground items. Evening entertainment is also available. Free Wi-Fi is only available in the lobby and service is slow. The buffet restaurant appears to be the most well-kept and updated area on the property; its layout is vast, providing ample seating for hotel guests, and the ceiling architecture is attractive and interesting. Though many guests choose to go the all-inclusive route, most guests report that both the variety and quality of food are mediocre. All-inclusive rates include all meals and local alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. An indoor bar with a billiards table is also available.
