Bottom Line

The three-pearl azuLine Hoteles Mar Amantis I & II is very much a hotel of two halves, one that appeals to older couples and families with small kids, and the other geared toward more raucous groups of younger guests. Its location on the beach at the quieter end of Sant Antoni also means the party-central neighborhood of West End is a cab ride away. The all-inclusive plan appeals to those on a budget, and resort-style facilities like swimming pools and a kids' club check the boxes for families and younger groups. Those looking to get away from frolicking youngsters and kids should consider the nearby Bellamar Hotel, which also has a spa.

Scene

All-inclusive resort hotel split between two buildings with differing personalities

As suggested by the name, the azuLine Hoteles Mar Amantis I & II was formerly two hotels that are now essentially one. The complex is still divided in half with one building on the seafront and the other located a couple minutes' walk inland. The front entrance is marked with a water fountain and flower bushes. One reception area mixes marble floors with wood paneling and traditional-style furnishings, while the other is more colorful and relaxed. The property as a whole tends to be separated between the more peaceful Mar Amantis I (popular with older couples and families with young children) and the more raucous Mar Amantis II (popular with younger couples, older kids, and groups). This means that this all-inclusive hotel attracts a wide spectrum of guests -- though it leans toward younger groups of vacationing friends.

Location

Seafront setting at quieter end of Sant Antoni, a 10-minute drive from the lively center

The hotel is located on the quieter side of the popular resort area of Sant Antoni, away from the buzzing center, though with a variety of restaurants and pubs in the surrounding area. It's a waterfront location, but the beach is a short strip of corse sand. The livelier parts of Sant Antoni, which include the party areas of West End and the Sunset Strip, renowned for late night festivities, are at least a 10-minute cab ride away. Ibiza Town and its airport are both 20 minutes away by road.

Rooms

Standard Rooms are basic with few amenities -- though some sea views

Rooms differ little between the two sections of the hotel. All standard level rooms are decorated in light, summery tones with simple wood furnishings, tiled floors, and some dated elements. Some interiors are certainly showing signs of wear. The difference really shows, however, in the upgraded Premium Rooms which are finished in fresh, contemporary decor with a much more up-to-date feel. Standard amenities are basic, with little more than air-conditioning and TVs (some tube-style). Some twin beds are pushed together to make a double bed. Wi-Fi isn't free of charge, though a weekly fee is reasonable. Bathrooms are mostly simple, old-fashioned, and with a few signs of age. They come with shower/tub combos and wall-mounted hairdryers. All rooms open to simply furnished terraces or balconies, some with sea views.

Features

All-inclusive resort with peaceful sea-view pool and lively poolside entertainment

The features are the highlight at this resort. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are served buffet-style in the hotel's restaurant, and are covered by the hotel's all-inclusive plan. While reports vary as to the quality of food, most agree it's better than one might expect at this level. The buffet restaurant is also particularly colorful and features attractive wrought-iron renderings of traditional Ibizan dancers. The plan includes an unlimited amount of soft and alcoholic drinks, and an upgrade adds premium brand drinks and access to sunset views at the Chill Out area. Each of the two sections has swimming pools. The pool at the Mar Amantis I features sea views and the Mar Amantis II offers a range of poolside entertainment and a kids' pool. The beach itself is pretty underwhelming: a thin stretch of corse sand without loungers or beach umbrellas. Most guests opt for loungers by the pool simply facing the waterfront. A kids' club for 4- to 12-year-olds is available, plus a games room and a range of sports facilities that includes mini-golf, table tennis, and beach volley ball. There's also a small, uninspiring gym. A mini-disco and evening entertainment provide more activities.
