Scene

A charming, rustic property for a quiet island getaway

A narrow dirt path running through a typical Mediterranean backdrop of pine trees, vines, and arid fields dotted with palm trees, leads to a neat stone wall with white and blue tiles spelling out the name of the property. The main building is hidden behind some trees just down the path, giving this secluded hotel an even more intimate feel. The tiny family-run property is housed in a traditional Ibizan home, with whitewashed walls, wooden beams and windows, and a terra-cotta tiled roof. A little farther afield is a cattle farm, a vegetable garden, and a vineyard, all of which are part of the same estate. Decor is rustic throughout, with charming homey details such as glass cabinets displaying earthenware pitchers and old cast-iron irons, shelves full of books, and a Spanish guitar hanging from a wall in the restaurant. The hotel’s five rooms are housed in old granaries, and are all decorated in the same rustic style as the common spaces. The property is peaceful year-round, drawing mostly couples looking for a relaxing weekend getaway.

Location

Secluded location, a 10-minute drive from trendy Santa Gertrudis to the south and Port de San Miguel to the north

The hotel is located in a rural area in central-north Ibiza. While secluded, this location is convenient for those looking to explore the island by car. There isn’t much within walking distance, but guests can borrow bikes at no extra charge to explore the surroundings or even head out to San Miguel, a small village north of the property and home to a couple of restaurants. The resort area of Port de Sant Miguel and its sheltered beach cove is a little over a 12-minute drive north. Santa Gertrudis -- a quaint, trendy town with a wide array of restaurants, bars and shops -- is a 10-minute drive to the south. The airport and Ibiza Town are about a 20-minute drive away, and Sant Antoni de Portmany -- known for its nightlife -- is less than a half-hour drive away.

Rooms

Rustic, charming rooms with modern amenities

Sa Vinya’s five rooms are airy and charming, with terra-cotta tile floors, exposed wooden beams, and lots of wood and stone accents. Although all rooms have a similar rustic decor style, each unit has its own unique details -- features include four-poster beds, deep jetted tubs, large furnished patios, and wrought-iron touches. Though decor is rustic, amenities are modern in all rooms and include flat-screen TVs, stocked minibars, air-conditioning, coffeemakers, safes, and free Wi-Fi. All rooms are romantic and intimate, but couples celebrating a special occasion or looking for some extra privacy may want to request Sa Bellotera, which is located a little away from the other rooms and has a cute porch area overlooking the serene grounds.

Features

A lovely pool, a movement studio, and a restaurant with outdoor seating

The small but charming restaurant is housed in the main building, and features outdoor seating by the pool. The restaurant serves a free healthful breakfast made with fresh produce from the on-site farm and vegetable garden every morning and is open for lunch and dinner on request. The lovely, quiet pool has a handful of padded lounge chairs, umbrellas, and cabanas, and its water is sourced from the on-site well. There is no fitness center at the property, but yoga, Pilates and meditation classes are available at the movement studio for a fee. The owner is known for giving wonderful massages in a quiet spot out in the fields. Wi-Fi, loaner bikes, and parking are all available free of charge.
