This 24-room luxury boutique is known for its beautiful gardens dotted with Bali beds and orange trees, and its stylish Asian-inspired decor. Although it is a little busier at times than one might expect of a hotel that advertises itself as an agritourism property, it does offer numerous amenities for a relaxing vacation, including a beautiful spa, a couple of pools, a beach club on Cala Nova, and a gym with group and private yoga and Pilates classes. Couples looking to get away from it all may want to compare rates at Can Pujolet, which is smaller and a little quieter than Atzaró.
Scene
A chic boutique with beautiful grounds and only 24 rooms
Housed in several traditional Ibizan buildings with whitewashed and brick-colored walls, and surrounded by manicured grounds dotted with orange trees, Buddha statues, ponds with water lilies, and Bali beds with billowy curtains, Agroturismo Atzaró is a nice respite from the many booming and mostly generic all-inclusive properties on Ibiza. Decor is rustic but luxurious, with traditional sturdy furniture, exposed stone walls, lots of wood accents, and stylish Asian-inspired touches. Ornaments displayed throughout the hotel -- such as Moroccan stained glass lamps, Hindu and Buddhist figures, and Indonesian wood artifacts -- take guests to faraway lands, but the architecture has a strong regional style. During peak season the hotel hosts a couple of large popular parties, as well as trendy fashion, music, and art shows, which may make it a little too busy for those expecting a relaxing stay in touch with nature. Although the off-peak season may not be as appealing to some as the summer months, the Fall and Spring here are mostly quiet, and the vibe more intimate.
Location
A 15-minute drive from the nearest beach
Atzaró is located in central Ibiza, a 30-minute northeast drive from Ibiza Town. The narrow, winding road that leads to the property runs through Mediterranean forests and a handful of homes. The nearest beach is a 15-minute drive away, in Santa Eularia des Riu, and the property owns a beach club complete with a restaurant on Cala Nova, a sandy beach a 20-minute drive from the hotel. There isn’t much within walking distance, and guests looking to explore the area are encouraged to rent a car, as public transport is limited in this part of the island. Family-friendly Es Canar can be reached by car in about 15 minutes, and the airport is just over half an hour away.
Rooms
Rustic-chic rooms with unique details and great amenities
Each of the 24 rooms at Atzaró is different. Although all are decorated in a rustic style -- picture white and exposed stone walls, wooden beams, terracotta tiles, and sturdy wooden furniture -- each unit has its own details, such as a fireplace, a large patio with Asian-inspired day beds, double stone sinks in the bathroom, four-poster beds, an outdoor soaking tub, or a serene pond with water lilies. Standard amenities include flat-screen TVs with DVDs, free Wi-Fi, minibars, and Nespresso machines. A few rooms are located across the road and share a small private pool. Bathrooms are also all different, but most have shower/tub combos, local herbal toiletries, and hairdryers. iPod docks are available upon request.
Features
Upscale amenities include a spa, three pools, a private yacht, and private fitness classes.
The pool area here is stylish and appealing, with several Bali beds, cabanas, and padded loungers. There is a small whirlpool in a shaded area, a bar serving snacks and drinks, and an additional, smaller pool in a separate section. With chic decor, a relaxing vibe, and great facilities, the spa is one of the main draws here. It offers saunas, steam rooms, treatment cabins, salon services, a bar, and a long, skinny pool. Adjacent to the spa is the fitness center, complete with a yoga and Pilates studio for private and group classes. Veranda is the hotel’s year-round restaurant. It serves an international menu for all three meals -- but while everything is fresh (the chef uses produce from the hotel’s vegetable garden) there are limited options, and guests tend to find it repetitive after a couple of meals. Jardín Restaurant opens in the summer only, and offers outdoor seating and a regional menu. The hotel also offers other upscale amenities, such as a yacht for private day trips, car service, and even a beach club complete with a restaurant on Cala Nova, a nice stretch of sand a 20-minute drive away. Freebies include Wi-Fi and outdoor parking.
